    Fruit flies love beer. They got in under the lid. I had my beer in a five gal. bucket settling out but the lid wasn't tight fitting. I now keep a can of non toxic spray in the kitchen.

    I made this last year but unfortunately I experienced a massive fruit fly problem brought in by strawberries and lost the whole thing. I'm going to try this again. I see that brewmasters has the recipe you can just buy. I may do that. Thanks for the recipe.

    Blood Orange Hefeweizen

    Peel your oranges, just the outside, not the pith. Soak in a cup of rum in fridg in plastic container big enough to hold and shake it each day. Leave it there til bottling and add to the bottling solution.

    A Wonderful Hobby for you and your Dad to enjoy. Your first recipe should be uncomplicated. That doesn't translate into boring. That way you can figure out what you're going to use and how to use it. Have fun.

    I joined this forum specifically to thank Biermuncher for this wonderful recipe. I made it for July Fourth party and it was cold and light and just right. And what a fantastic way to get new homebrew converts!
