    Saosin yeast and Cider

Pitch at normal temperatures and raise the temp 2-3 degrees a day till you get to your desired temperatures... I have a water bath with a fish tank heater which lets me control temps very well. Last saosin I made liked the heat so much it blew the airlock out of the top of the bucket. wonder...

    Lemonade Beer Mix: Help Wanted

My Lemonade beer came out with mixed results... Im really not a big fan of it but others Esp. SWMBO likes it. Start with a very basic low Abv wheat beer. I bumped up the hops with 1oz of Cascade to help balance it out a little. I racked onto 3 cut up lemons but next time I would lower it to...

    Lemonade Beer Mix: Help Wanted

I recently took on this adventure as well. What came out wasnt close to Summer shandy but it still turned out ok. I recommend just trying a strait wheat beer with a lower OG. Rack only a few cup up lemons... 1 or 2 at most. After tasting and getting your FG you can add Crysal light...

Problem from not stirring yeast in?

CO2 is heavier than air. You will have a nice blanket protecting your beer while you take your readings. Once you seal it back up any Oxygen in your container will get pushed out your airlock.

    Dry Hopping Question

So if these oils were destroyed durring peletization would that kill the aroma comming strait from the bag? Cut open an ounce of pellet hops and give them a whiff. I bet you will smell something. You may get more aroma from whole hops than pellets, but to say you get no additions from...

    Summer Time

Well its been 3 weeks in the bottle. This is deffinately not Summer Shandy but it is a good summertime beer. Couple notes: This is a basic wheat beer. I went a little heavy on the Wheat (added some extract out of fear when I shouldnt have). I racked to secondary onto 3 cut up frozen...

Last night I offered a guy a bells two hearted ale clone I made which came out amazing. His response was hes not a big microbrew guy but if I had anything that tasted like bud light lime he would try it. He wasnt allowed near the cooler for the rest of the night.

    Cold crashing procedure

Well here is the plan for appartment style cold crashing. I have a large rubber made tote that I will fill with water so the entire carboy is filled up to the top of the beer. I will add a little bit of salt to the water and every 12 hours I will add more ice. Approx 1/2 a bag each time...

    Cold crashing procedure

Well I dont mind trouble shooting. Any if you tell me something is probably not a good idea then I will most likely try that not so good idea :drunk:. I guess there is only one way to find out if I can get the temps down that low for a couple days without a fridge. And thats to try it :tank:

    Cold crashing procedure

I dont have a fridge that can fit my carboy. I do have it in a water bath controlling temperature about 63 degrees right now... So my plan was to add Bottles of ice to drop the temperature to Approx 40 degrees. So i guess ill need to have one set in the freezer and one set in use and just...
