    Bottling issue

I just bottled my two batches of Scottish Ale and American Light Ale. I had them in a temperature controlled fermenter for 11 days set at 61 degrees. The original gravity was 1.07 and the final gravity was 1.035 on the Scottish Ale. I bottled the beer and opened a bottle after 4 days. The...

    Ale to Lager

I currently have a light ale in the primary now and would like to turn this into more like a lager. I heard you can move it to the secondary for another week at a lower temperature. Can anyone shine any light on this and what to do? I have temperature control.... Thanks, :mug:

    Brew Day

Just giving an update on the process of the Scotch Ale and the Light Ale. I had a 2 day lagtime before i noticed any action on the airlock. Now the action is out of control, especially on the Scotch Ale which blew my airlock completely off, twice now. The lid to the bucket looks like the roof...

    Brew Day

I visited Morebeer today. What a great place. I picked up 2 batches of beer and figured 9/11 would be a great day to brew. I placed them in my new aquired freezer with temp controller and set at 61 degrees. Time to make some real beer..... :rockin: Primary #1 - California Light Ale (OG=...

    Fermenting Temp Method

It seems that everyone does it different. The choices are placing the probe in the beer or placing the probe outside the beer. Do you think it will be more stable if you put the probe in the freezer measuring ambiant temperature, setting at 60 degrees to maintain a 68 degree beer temp? Or...

    Fermenting Temp Method

I'm stoked!! I just recently bought a chest freezer and a Ranco temp controller to maintain proper temperatures during fermentation. I did an experiment first with a beer bottle full of water to see if the temp will be stable. I placed the thermocouple probe in the bottle and wrapped the top of...

    Some fermenting temperature questions.

Buy an external temperature controller from Ranco and hook your freezer to it. This will maintain your set temperature and your freezer will not be on all the time. Your only cycling your freezer to maintain a warm 70 degrees. :mug:
