    I brewed way too much...

WOOHOOO Southeast MO. I'm close and could help you to reclaim some empties out of that pile of beer you have!

    I'm Taking the Plunge, Too!

If you are referring to using a cordless drill on the grain mill, don't be dissapointed if it won't do the trick. I had to put up my Dewalt cordless for a corded drill to get the power required. The starting torque is the trick here. Good luck to you!

    Bottle conditioning for real?

Should the bottle conditioning be done in the fridge or at room temp?

    Sabco: Story so far....

I got a refurb and it was in outstanding condition. No need to pay the extra for the 'new keg' option IMO.

    wort chiller question

After upgrading my brew pot, I was in need of a wort chiller of different dimensions. I now use my old wort chiller as a pre-chiller to submerge in an ice bath. I leave it out of the ice bath until my wort is down to about 120 degrees then I drop it in the ice. One bag of ice will do the...

    Burner stand vs. keg diameter...

I have the fortune in this area of working at a steel mill. I found some 1" angle iron laying around. I cut four 2" pieces and put a thin slot at one end in one plane of the iron so that it fits over the outer ring of the turkey fryer. The keg rests on these and the weight of the keg lodges the...

    I'm Taking the Plunge, Too!

I got a Barley Crusher several months ago and I LOVE it. This is the first one I have owned so I can't compare it with too many others (just the one at the HBS) but from what I have read and looking at pictures, the grind is great! This mill really is a good deal when compared to others in its...

    Corny keg dimensions please...

Bout to take the trip down to Memphis to purchase my foam board for a fermentation chiller. I would like to size it to accommodate corny kegs as well in the future. Could someone please give me the height and diameter of the standard corny kegs (5 gallon if there are variations) ? Thanks...

    Cr@%%y digital thermometers.

Long stem thermometer The description says 8" but it is 11.5" as in the name. I think the description was just a cut and paste from their 8" model which otherwise is identical. I called to verify the length was indeed 11.5". I will evaluate this and let you know how it stands up to the steam...

    Fermentation Chiller

Temperature indicator and controller May be a bit more than some want to spend but this is really cheap for what it is. If your going to spend 15 on a thermostat and 10 on a thermometer with probe, this isn't too much from that. It may even be able to handle a frigde if you are handy...

    Testing Gravity in a Carboy

Hmmm, coulda sworn my siphon had a label in it that said 'thief'... maybe just an add for another product... Well, I use my siphon as a thief to take samples out of the carboy. I just don't put the inner piston in it and it acts as a sample drawing tool.

    Fermentation Chiller

Sorry for being lazy... I think I remember someone here talking about the right adhesives to use but I'll just ask... Looks like I'm stuck with using 1" thick sheets instead of 2" due to the small friggin town I live in. Could you please let me know what adhesive you used and how good it...

    Testing Gravity in a Carboy

The siphon starter (a.k.a. 'thief'). This is an invaluable tool in my collection.

    About to buy a kettle

https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=776 I got the false bottom from Sabco since it looked like it would be quite tedious to make one and even find the right type of materials. The siphon on Sabco is crazy priced IMO. I made one for less than 20 bucks but I had access to s.s...

    5 Gallon Carboy

I would say that a little head room in there would be good. You don't want to blow off absolutely everthing which would be the case if you filled a 5gal carboy with 5gal of beer. Something you could do would be to make 4.5 gal batches. If your with kits then the beer will be just a bit stronger...

    About to buy a kettle

Only THREE DAYS!!! I was super excited when I saw this sitting on my front porch! Im in western Tennessee and they ship from Ohio. I have been nothing but happy with mine :D Be sure to lube up the fittings with vegetable oil (or in some other mannor) so you dont gall any threads.

    Sediment

I have never gotten more than a film on the bottom of my bottles... I can pour out every bit of liquid and not get any junk in my beer. I do pri for a week and sec for two weeks... I then move my carboy into position and let it settle for a couple hours as I get all of my bottles cleaned...

Taking bets - What do you think will happen?

I've had similar experiences with the smack pack and from now on whether I use smack packs or not, I will make a starter. I will probably just stay away from the smack packs...
