Finally was able to brew on it had no issues actually hit 93% efficiency I was afraid of getting it stuck so mashed pretty thin and recirculated slower than normal. Thing that sucks is a dropped the false bottom and one side of the handle came off as well as one side of a leg but it still sat...
I am planning on making this again soon hopefully without a stuck fermentation I cant seem to get this beer below 1.014. I have made dozens of high gravity beers with various yeasts but wlp 530 has me stumped it always quits on me. This time going to pitch at 65 and let the beer rise on its...
I have one and it’s awesome use it on my smoker and in oven. What I like best is that it has a low and high alarm for the two probes. I set one on the grates low alarm at 250 so I know when to add more wood to my stick burner
Thinking of making a porter for the first time with some left over malt would it be ok for 10% crystal 40, 6.5% chocolate malt, 2.6% black patent and rest 2-row thinking may be on the roastier side which I like but is 10% too much crystal?
Thats what a figured i think if it was any tighter I wouldn’t be able to get it in. I have herms system so we will see how it goes, first time using a false bottom
Finished product cant wait to test it out. Pickup tube is 1/16 inch from bottom. Thinking of just dumping return straight on top with no silicone hose since HSA is busted
I actually used the quick lager method for a Octoberfest recently. I thought it turned out not so good even after months of lagering. It had a funny off flavor that I couldn’t put my finger on, my brother in law said tasted kind of fruity. Next lager I am going back to letting it sit at 48...
Finally got it what a pain in the ass wonder if it was difficult because it was so close to the bend at the top. Hope I never have to do that again. Of course amazon has this on sale
Crap, was able to widen the hole with 5/32 bit but using three different step bits I was not able to go any further and the damn kettle is bent from pressing so hard
I don’t know what happened with this hole I drilled the kettle fine and the valve port for the mash tun fine. Used center punch pilot hole and lots of cutting fluid. I wonder if step bit just wore out and the first step was too much of a gap from the pilot hole. Might go to harbor freight...
