    What's Brewing This Weekend? (6/15-17)

Rogue Hazelnut Brown clone. Lots of onlookers tomorrow as everyone that's tried my beer is taking an interest it seems! Should be a lot of fun as someone is bringing a smoker over to smoke some pork and beef as well.

I've been kicked out of my brewery.

I was kicked out by SWMBO as well. Bought a Turkey Fryer, Keggle, Mash Tun, Grain crusher and wort chiller and I couldn't be happier. Of course in January I may not be saying that! ;)

    Uh oh, call the cops.

Bobby if you're gonna sell the 3rd when you're ready let me know. I'll take it off your hands. I've only got the 1 keggle now so I'm looking for 2 more eventually. Plus I'm litterally 5 minutes from Piscataway!

    Wort Chiller advice

I can tell by the pics! Looking back, had I just bought that setup up front, I'd probably be even considering all I've spent on my 3, 5 and now 10 gal setup! :drunk:

    Wort Chiller advice

Yeah that helps and makes sense. But you have a pump that does this right? That's what I was looking to avoid.

    Wort Chiller advice

So I just got a keggle and now I am finding that my piddly little immersion chiller isn't going to cut it for 10 Gal batches. I've pretty much decided that the Shirron Wort Plate Chiller is what I want to get due to price and the speed in which it chills the wort, but I'm not sure what else I...

    Repitching California Ale Yeast Cake

I didn't do an IPA before I pitched to my yeast cake but I had a lot of trub. I've made that barleywine twice now, 1st time with the yeast cake and trub second time with a large starter. The one with the yeast cake and trub is better. don't know if that's because of that or not, just thought...

New to brewing, going to keg, where would you start?

My first beer was an Oatmeal Stout and probably one of my best to date. You can't really screw up a stout easily. Good Luck!:mug:

    Attention new all grain brewers!

Great post. I've stumbled my way through 3 AG sessions until last night when things finally went smoothly. Another point would be to ensure that your pH is good. Fivestar pH 5.2 stabalizer worked like a champ for me. Using spring water my pH was pretty high I discovered.

    OK all you AG gurus

I've got a similar setup and it works pretty well. I already had the 5 Gal HLT so I didn't go that route. You don't really need that, but it does come in handy. I also bought the 12 Gal cooler from Chuck for 54.99. Check his website out (doesn't appear to be working at the moment) or email...

    Batch sparge question

You're right of course. I was actually looking at the wrong number. According to Beersmith my efficiency was 75%. Thanks!

    Batch sparge question

So final results aren't as good as going into the pot, but it's still all good. Definately correctable next time. I ended up with 70% efficiency, but mainly because of two mistakes: 1) Didn't boil long enough. I had 6 gallons of beer when I put it in the Fermentor. I used a brand new...

    Batch sparge question

Ok, so the 5.2 pH stabalizer and running a much slower sparge worked awesome! I hit 78% of where I'm supposed to be going into the boil! Woohoo! :ban:

    New Brewer - New Jersey

I've scoured New Jersey looking for Amarillo hops last week. There are 3 stores in the Garden State, Corrado's (decent for supplies other than basic grain, hops and yeast) Then there is the Brewer's Apprentice in Freehold, NJ. They've got a much better selection. Lastly there is...

    Hops/chunks in my bottled beer

I have a really hoppy IPA where I get a few stray chunks from bottle to botttle. I switched that one to a secondary and a third bottling bucket for a few days to get as much out as I could. I also strain when putting into the primary, so a few stray hops here and there aren't a big deal, but...

job websites that aren't full of scammers?

I found my dream job on www.technologyladder.com It's a pay for site, but they do have great jobs and good leads on them. They never sold my name either. It's for high-end engineers, managers and directors though. Don't know if that's what you are looking for or not.
