    What are you drinking now?

Just polished off a glass of my version of Chainsaw Brewing Warsteiner Dunkel Imitation ale. Now, time to get my butt outside for flame-out and chilling the wort!! Brewing a Brown Ale for a charity event next month.

    Stout Faucet Recommendations

OMG. Off topic, but.... YOU JUST SOLVED MY MYSTERY! I bought some QD's recently that were drastically crappier than all of the prior ones I have owned. I just looked at my spares on the shelf, the "good ones" are indeed CMB's and the really, REEEEALLY crappy ones have an "S" on them. They are...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I can't fit my buckets into the fridge or else I'd totally crash the primary instead of the keg. Maybe once I get my fermentation chamber built up. :)

    SWMBO vs. Homebrew

Nope, you do not need heat of any kind to make Apfelwein, just mix the ingredients straight into the bucket. (I half-empty a couple bottles of the juice, pour the sugar into the bottle, and shake vigorously before dumping into the fermenter, so that I don't have to stir directly in the...

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

IT Guy, Food Network fan, but not an Engineer. If I could escape, I want to get into some kind of Logistics-y field as well. Operations, Supply, etc.

    Belma Hops

I tried a taste of my Velma SMaSH tonight. It's pretty good! It's a little grassy tasting but it has only been in the keg for a few days... It needs another week on carbonation before it will be where I want it. I like the notes of strawberry & cream that I can already taste in there, though...

    What are you drinking now?

Oh lawdy. I moved on to my bottle of Boulevard Reverb Imperial Pilsner. Gods help us all.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Sweet. Yeah, I bet 1056 does the trick in no time flat. I like to cold crash for a couple days and transfer so that I have to be less delicate when I'm moving kegs around. I don't do it every time for my fridge beers, but I try to do it at minimum whenever I am taking beer to an event with my...

    hello from uninhabitable Utah

I've heard amazing things about Epic's Brainless (and on Cherries, and on Peaches) but haven't had time time to track down a bottle (except for my poorly planned stop thru town on the trip). Yeah, it was the culture/attitude that scared me out of there as soon as I could get back on the road...

    What are you drinking now?

My first time trying Lagunitas Hop Stoopid. Holy wow, this beer is CLEAR! And not nearly as malty as I was bracing for - VERY pleasant to drink! Good aroma, great flavor, mild bitterness in the finish. For an 8% beer, it hardly tastes like 6%.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Heck yeah, I bet you can have it done in time. What yeast are you using? If dry, I'd pitch two packs per vessel, if liquid, make a properly sized starter. If I were doing it (and assuming that I use my usual practices & equipment), I'd hold steady at ~66*F so it ferments cool but doesn't...

    2012 Simcoe In Stock!

Dude. You stock brew stands? That. is. AWESOME. I need to visit Janesville sometime.

    SWMBO vs. Homebrew

WOW. I was not expecting to see so much waving of penii around in this thread, especially in the earlier parts... Being that marriage is a 50/50 partnership, I can only recommend COMMUNICATION as the solution to almost all problems that may arise. I'm incredibly lucky to have a significant...

Attempting an "Apple Ale" - suggestions?

I made an Apple Pie Amber Ale once. It was a few years ago and I took lousy notes on that particular beer. But I do remember that... - I used two cans of Apple Juice concentrate, thawed completely to room temp., and added into the primary after most of the fermentation had finished (but while...

    Tequila in Vienna Lager

Subscribed. I love me some Vienna, and I loooooove me some Tequila. Lead the way, my friend.

    1 Pound of Cascade

I would do 10 gallons of American Pale Ale. 2-row, some caramel or carapils, a bit of biscuit or honey or victory or even just Munich. 2oz at 30 minutes, 4oz at 5 minutes, and 8oz at flame-out held to steep for 5 minutes before chilling takes place. Then, 2oz dry hop after fermentation...

how much of a cup is 1 oz pellet hops?

Stop by a grocery store with a Bulk Goods section and ask to use their scale for a moment? Pick up a cheap battery powered scale at your local Smoke Shop for $15? Are you in a place with NO other homebrewers that you could borrow a scale from? Do you have any neighbors that bake bread or...

The Broken Robot eBrewery, oh me, oh my.

o_O whoa. to tell you the truth, I have no idea, re: the car batteries. That is far beyond the scope of my electrical know-how. Regarding the wiring, though... the $3k-4k rate that I listed encompasses a lot of things. Burying the service line instead of replacing the overhead. Bumping my...

The Broken Robot eBrewery, oh me, oh my.

Hah. It depends what you mean by "started". I bought the electric HLT on a complete whim about 4 years ago and have never used it. I have read through Kal's site in fits and phases a few times over again. But in terms of seriously reading & concentrating, once, about 2 months ago. I don't read...
