    My new License Plates

ARGH! Somebody in Nebraska claimed RDWHAHB - and recently, too, it was out there last time I checked, which was about 6m-1yr ago. So whoever you are, lucky NE brewer, post here so you can get on to the official list of People Who Have RDWHAHB plates!! I guess I will have to fall back on to...

    Hayes' Public House Pilot System

Nice. Thanks for your response! I'm hoping to go 50A in the basement for the same reason, back to back brewing! Crank it out! Good work and good luck!

    Hayes' Public House Pilot System

I cannot quite tell from the pictures, what is the stand frame built out of? It looks like maybe painted wood, with the extra panels of metal added to protect the surfaces? Edit: No, now I'm thinking it's painted steel square tubing. I like your vent hood design quite a bit... when I get to...

    Storage Wars

Yeah, I'll fess up, I am a Storage Wars addict. We watched our first episode in Arizona, drinking a couple beers in the hotel room before bed & hitting the road towards the next state. I was hooked at first watch. We stayed up until 2am watching episodes, then watched a whole bunch more of it at...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Okay so color me curious. I've only heard of doing that with extract-PM batches. What does that do in an AG batch?? I'd expect, by throwing it in at the start of the sparge, you get the tiniest amount of color, but very little flavor? Or vice versa??

    First!

I read somewhere that sunlight helps release the chloramines. So I leave them without lids, in the sun, as I get my gear ready. Plus, I brew outside, so I would put them there eventually. :)

    First!

Lincoln here. I use tap water. I do treat with Campden - I crack a tablet in half, prepare 5 gal in two buckets side by side, and I crush up half a tablet between my fingers into each bucket. I stir vigorously, then let it sit outside with no lid for ~15 min. after doing this, while I get the...

    What are you drinking now?

8th Hoppin' DIPA w/ Pale Malt

AHHHH Thank you for clarifying. I did not realize it was supposed to be 4 gallons and got adjusted to 5 due to the gravity issues - I thought you had intended for 5 gal all along. And as such, my hop schedule assumed 5 gal post-boil, 6-ish-whatever gal pre-boil. My bad, your original recipe...

8th Hoppin' DIPA w/ Pale Malt

Yes. You could have used a lot more hops. I added up all of your additions and, excluding the dry hopping... it comes out to only 5 Oz total in the beer. That's certainly fine for, say, a 5.5% or 6% single IPA. But for this big of a beer, as you noted, 9% alcohol is a lot to stand up to, and I...

Bells Oatmeal Porter (Bells recipe of the month)

I have a bunch of Oat Malt and Flaked Oats that I'm looking to write a recipe around. I will probably borrow inspiration from this one. Glad to hear you're enjoying how it came out. Once the carbonation level really settles in and you think the beer has hit it's stride, can you post some...

    Dry Hop Amounts

Could have been. Nugget can be a bit weighty... I like it more as a bittering hop, and prefer to pair it with a finish/aroma hop that isn't so aggressive. I have found Chinook behaves similarly to Nugget in this regard. In fact, I think a great beer could be made using Nugget & Chinook up front...

    Belma Hops

Thanks for this - Strawberry Fruit Roll Up is an excellent descriptor. I also came up with "Strawberry flavor Bubblicious bubble gum" when I was drinking my Velma Smash last night. It's a very sweet and pleasant red berry scent.

    What are you drinking now?

P!$$ed off that my package is stuck in town so it's likely to have at least one ice-ploding broken bottle due to the cold weather here, if not more, many more... I was hoping it would flee southwards ASAP. Drinking some Green Flash Palate Wrecker to quell my anger.

    Trying to use less star-san

I skipped a few posts in the middle, but in case nobody covered it.... .... Why are you sanitizing your brew pot? It should only need to be washed after use, not sanitized.

    Olympics- Opening Ceremony

TO be fair, spammers have been getting more capable of bypassing all sorts of registration & anti-spam measures. My local brew club forum had to move to the draconian method of Admin Activation Only for new forum accounts, because I was deleting about 20-30 spam users per day - of those...
