    Right angle keg posts?

My kegerator is horizontal (think dorm fridge, but built into our cabinets) with the door on the front, so it's actually the fixed ceiling of it that's the problem rather than the door/lid, and the reason why I can't make it taller. But yes, it's just the QDs that are the issue. The keg itself...

    Right angle keg posts?

Yeah looks like my only options are to bin these brand-new kegs :( and buy either converted pin-locks or Torpedo Kegs.

    Right angle keg posts?

So I recently built my first brewing rig, and kegged its first beer earlier this week. It's now carbed and when I went to move it into my kegerator (Perlick two-spout built-in undercounter), I discovered that while it will fit with like 1/16" clearance by itself, once the hoses/ball lock...

New fermentation chambers to show off brew buckets

I replied to your other posting re: bypassing the controller. I'm sure it's doable, less sure it's a good idea. On the heating side, I bought a two pack of these seedling mats: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015PD8I7I/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 They work great. I've had no issue with...

Brew Bucket owners - What Mini Fridge are you using ?

Just have to be careful that you don't overrun the compressor. Presumably you've got your temperature probe measuring the wort and not the refrigerator, so when cold crashing, the compressor would run continuously regardless of how cold it is in the fridge. Since it is not a freezer, I'd be...

    Brew-Boss Opinions

First beer (Resilience IPA) is in the keg and carbing. Definitely did not hit my numbers, but hopefully it'll be a sessionable variant. SG was 1.046 and FG 1.012, so right around 4.6% ABV, whereas it's supposed to be 6.8%. Pressure transfer from the SSB BrewBucket worked awesome, definitely...

It will help, until they start missing them again. My money's on they'll get 3 in a row, with one of the three late but still basically on a weekly cadence, and then they'll become more and more sparse.

How Many Pounds of Coffee Roasted in 2018

Nope, aside from a tiny amount we give away (<5 lbs/year), that's all personal consumption. We brew 1-1.5 gallons pretty much 7 days/week, and I make a couple batches of cold brew over the summer.

How Many Pounds of Coffee Roasted in 2018

My last two roasts have totaled 18 lbs of Ethiopia Agaro Biftu Gudina Cooperative (I have 7 lbs left from my 50 lb bag), bringing my final total for the year to 129 lbs. Not too far off from my beginning-of-year estimate of 125 lbs. :) Running total for the thread is 277.43 lbs.

    Ss Brewtech eBrewing

To provide GFCI for a 240v (only) circuit, you need two hots and a ground. Under normal operating conditions, all of the power that "leaves" one hot will "return" via the other hot, and the GFCI stays happy. Old-school 3-wire dryer outlets would have the Neutral bonded to Ground at the panel...

    Brew-Boss Opinions

I don't have Beersmith on this computer, but if you load the Brew-Boss plugin, it adds the profiles for you. Here are the numbers as I translated to Brewer's Friend: Boil Evaporation Rate: 4L/hr Grain Absorption: 0.5 qt/lb Hops Absorption: 0.15 qt/oz Kettle Dead Space: 4 qt Misc Losses: 0...

    Brew-Boss Opinions

I'm running the latest app (at least as of two weeks ago) from the Brew Boss site (not the Play store), and I'm pretty sure it has neither the "start on step" dropdown, nor the Automatic/Manual radio buttons. Found the latter in the parameters. Will check again when I get home though.

That's actually where I got the values that I plugged into Brewer's Friend to create the equipment profile there.

    Brew-Boss Opinions

First beer is in the fermenter. I did a second wet run last night to tune the boil for the steam condenser, and found that the lid does not sit flat due to the accessory port. I removed it and re-inserted it backwards (o-ring outside the kettle), and it's better but still not quite right. So...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

He means that there's not a good way to predict how much the pressure of the water coming out of the spray nozzle will be reduced when you restrict the flow. So you might not get enough atomized water to make the thing work, and even if you get it to work once, it might not be dialed in the...

Where's everyone getting their spa panel

Doesn't help you, but I pulled mine off the back of my house. :) Previous owner had a spa that they took with them. I repurposed that circuit to be a power inlet for a portable generator, and moved the spa panel into the garage for my brew rig.

They're doing a 12 Beers of Christmas promo (one per day), just like MoreBeer is doing a 12 Deals of Christmas promo. I don't see how that denotes the failure of either company.

That was my fault :) I specifically told them that the reason I cancelled is they committed to a cadence of updates, and then neither met that schedule nor provided substance when they did issue something. So they moved the goalposts to a much easier cadence.

    Brew-Boss Opinions

Was hoping to brew on Sunday, but my overnight work project took WAY longer than expected--3:15 pm Saturday until 6:45 am Sunday. Then I was hoping to brew today, but we had issues yesterday so I cancelled my day off. :( So maybe this weekend?

    Spike Cyber Monday order disappointment

I haven't even done business with them and I've still learned more than enough to put them well on the "good guys" side of the line.
