    Ss Brewtech eBrewing

Rather pedestrian reason, actually. The 240V plug is a 3-wire, that needs to be connected to a GFCI-protected outlet. That means it has no neutral, and therefore can't create the 120V needed to run a pump. Which leads directly to the question of why didn't they just use a 4-prong plug, so a...

    Question about GFCI

Yup. In a perfectly-functioning system, the ground will never be used to carry current. Everything will operate as expected with just two conductors--Hot/Neutral for 120V, Hot/Hot for 240V. The reason we have grounds is for the rare cases when something isn't functioning perfectly, because...

    Brew-Boss Opinions

We have very different definitions of "low" :) Here is my setup: When I brew, I roll it out to the left, then back under the counter when I'm done. I use the BB hops spider as well, though since I use a steam slayer, I can't use the hops boss like Mike does. I think it works great...

    Brew-Boss Opinions

I really like having mine low. Between the rolling planter cart it sits on and the step the cart is sitting on in my garage, the bottom of the pot is probably 8-10" above where I stand on the floor. Makes dealing with the basket/hoist and adding stuff to the pot really easy. I originally...

How many pounds of coffee roasted in 2019?

Another 9lbs of Rwanda Nyamasheke Cyato last weekend, brings me to 25 so far this year, and 45.08 lbs for the thread.

The pickup tube comes standard with the “deluxe” configuration, which is the one that has 6 options to choose from on the product page. If you do the “build your own”—which is the one with 15 options on the product page—you have to select it from the appropriate drop down, and it costs $37. I...

    Brew-Boss Opinions

Well I did it...killed my first batch, a Kentucky Common. Had a stuck mash where the pump sucked all the wort out of the kettle and dry-fired the element. Not sure how long it was in that state, as I was in and out of the garage, doing other things. It smelled pretty bad, and had some nasty...

How many pounds of coffee roasted in 2019?

Forgot to report the other weekend when I roasted 9 lbs of Rwanda Nyamasheke Cyato. That brings my total for the year to 16 lbs, and total for the thread to 29.45 lbs.

New fermentation chambers to show off brew buckets

No, I just laid the mat across the bottom. It comes about 4” up each side of the fridge. The power cord does NOT disconnect. I cut about 2’ off of mine, ran it through the rear drain that I had already expanded with a drill, then re-spliced the cord outside the fridge. If I cared about...

Winter Makes Me Hate Propane! Convert Equipment or Go GRAINFATHER??

This is hilarious. I’ll be in Webster the first week in March, but I’m flying into Buffalo because fares out of Rochester are insane late Friday/early Saturday. If you’re open by then, I’ll definitely stop by Friday night (staying in Buffalo that night for an early Saturday flight).

220 Plug - Panel Mount vs Cord Mount

Like BeardedBrews said, it’s not a problem. Just a matter of personal preference and what works in your setup.

How many pounds of coffee roasted in 2019?

Agreed. I measure out 235g because that’s what my roaster “likes”. For purposes of record-keeping,that’s half a pound. Close enough. :)

How many pounds of coffee roasted in 2019?

Just like last year, let's keep track of our total output for 2019! Yesterday I roasted the last 7 lbs of my Ethiopia Agaro Biftu Gudina Cooperative. NeilMac reported in the 2018 thread that he roasted 21 oz last week, so that brings our first total for 2019 to: 8.31 lbs Please post up your...

    Right angle keg posts?

I think those are the same as the ones that are sold under the Torpedo brand, just dramatically more expensive ($30/ea instead of $20/ea).

How Many Pounds of Coffee Roasted in 2018

It's not 2018 anymore, we probably need a 2019 thread. I'll be roasting 7 lbs today, so I can start it later if it doesn't exist yet.
  17. L

    Right angle keg posts?

The first one is definitely too tall. The second might just squeeze in. it'd either be hella tight or just barely too tall.
  18. L

    Right angle keg posts?

The opening is 24 7/8" tall by 19 3/4" wide. Didn't measure the depth, but a tall quarter barrel (same height as a sixtel but much fatter) fits in there fine by itself, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Brew Bucket owners - What Mini Fridge are you using ?

No you won't have that issue, but it will make it more difficult to control the temperature of the wort. And you could just as easily set the temp on the built-in thermostat to achieve the same result. :)
