    Bottling without sugar.

Yeah, but DME is about 75% fermentable. I would think you would need 133% DME compared to sugar, why does the calculator give about 150% DME by weight compared to sugar?

    Bottling without sugar.

Why the big difference in bottling and kegging with the sugar? And I didn't expect that big a difference between DME and sugar. Does it not fully ferment out?

Ball Lock Posts, NPT or not?

Fine, I was very tired and didnt give a damn about spelling. Rip on me for that. Nice.

    Bottling without sugar.

Priming bottles with wort vs sugar This link above gives some discussion and a link to a better description. or you could use the DME discussed. Basically you would have to calculate the amount of fermentable sugar in the wort and use just enough to carb. Personally, I keg. So no experience...

Ball Lock Posts, NPT or not?

Neither of those are prevalient. Those are for adding posts or adapting. Most of us just buy kegs with threads already welded onto the body, and they already have a post on them. Are you trying to make a keg out of something else?

Corny kegs - ball lock or pin lock?

pics? or what make? The Old Ale from Adventures just push out. But the orings make them a bit snug.

Corny kegs - ball lock or pin lock?

That is the other nice thing about new kegs, no oxidized rubber marking everything up.

Corny kegs - ball lock or pin lock?

I didn't change out the poppets on the older kegs, I have the old ones with old poppets and new ones with new. Although all the orings on mine have been replaceable but one. On the old pepsi kegs you just rotate the tri leg and there is a slot to take off the legs and the rest pulls apart...

Corny kegs - ball lock or pin lock?

FWIW, I have a few Italian Pepsi kegs that are the shorter variety, ball lock and stamped pepsi so not converted, so the height is variable. I prefer new ones because I don't like dings, and I can get the Old Ale in 5,3,2.5,1.75 gal. One thing worth noting. If you prefer to do full teardown...

WTF is that? Gelatin finings issue or ?

^^Yeah, that. Sounds like the carboy cooled your solution and allowed it to gel. I always add the solution to the cold carboys the day after racking and crashing.

    Soda Acid?

Gives the soda a clean finish and a bit of a bite. Also inhibits things growing in the sugar water. If you don't want lemon, you can buy acids. citric will give a 'fresh' taste, but too much tastes fake. Malic will give you a tart (apple) taste. Many commercial sodas use phosphoric, it is...

    My first Keezer (10 tap)

The hoppier they are the sooner they die. I have a Marzen that is just fine after 2 years, but a summer beer is starting to fade at 6 months. The Marzen was for a party that didn't happen, and I am not a big fan of the hop I tried in it.k Have to pull the lines and clean them occasionally...

    First time bottling

To order the honey early, in case FedEx drops the bucket again. Wish I could have had pictures, it was a 60 pound bucket.

this failed me as a flare nut picnic tap, don't do it....

Awful lot of hate in this thread. I have been running picnic taps for about 7 years now. I have a 10 tap keezer, some of the taps are soda at 25 psi. I have not had all these problems other people seem to have, not even when my kids pull themselves a glass of soda do they have problems. And...

    First time bottling

Fair warning. Check the date on the tank before assuming you can get it filled. I sent mine out for recert and I have been waiting 3 months.

    First time bottling

You're using a bottling bucket, there is not a chance of oxidation, it is a certainty. Relax a bit, I leave all my brews in Primary for a month. finishes them off nicely, get rid of off flavors, drops nice and clear. Not worth washing out a secondary for a few weeks of time. When you add...

    Applejack Cider

Are you using the refractometer reading directly, or with a conversion formula? Once alcohol is involved the refractometer is not accurate alone.

    Root beer

Short answer, it is a soft drink, no alcohol. I believe it started in the USA during prohibition just to have something interesting to drink. Or maybe it just got popular to make at home, it was a good excuse to have bottles, bottle caps, and a capper arouond the house. it was made with...

    Spiced Cider Gone Wrong

What I don't see in the list is yeast nutrient. Apple juice usually needs this for a clean ferment. You may have off flavors from a stressed ferment, particularly since the cinnamon was trying to inhibit. Maybe next time just ferment the fermentables (juice and brown sugar) with nutrient (not...
