    Just bought my kit :D

Come on man, seriously?? You would share a brew kettle and greasy turkey frying kettle? Allow me to re-word my post: "If you care ANYTHING about the finished quality of your beer, both taste and appearance, I would buy a separate kettle to brew in and a separate kettle to fry turkeys in...

    Just bought my kit :D

What he said... I see you did buy 24 22-oz bottles. You will probably need between a six pack and a 12 pack of empty micro/craft brewery bottles to finish bottling your beer.

    Just bought my kit :D

Or, if you like the size of the pot you have now, perhaps you could buy the exact same setup again and have a spare burner, OR sell the burner to recoup some of the cost of buying another pot???

    Just bought my kit :D

You may want to consider purchasing a separate brew kettle, and not sharing one kettle between a brew pot and a turkey frying pot. There is no way you'll clean the oil out of the kettle after you've fried a turkey in that pot. It will impart a flavor to your beer, and also you'll have the oil...

    Just bought my kit :D

Welcome to the obsession! I also started with a Mr. Beer kit. Then I bought another Mr. Beer fermenter so I could have 2 batches going at the same time. I learned a lot from that kit and then moved on. It was a lot of work for about 20 beers per "keg". Your kit looks pretty standard. Do...

stove burner covers - what a mess

I've used a Mr. Clean Magic eraser with some OxyClean on both a gas range and when I used to do partial boils on a glass top electric stove. Great success with that.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

It won't be it's best, buy it could be ready. 1 week in the primary, 1 week in the secondary, 1.5 weeks to carbonate, and 1.5 weeks to cold condition in the bottle. Do-able... If you have any left, it will be great by Thanksgiving!

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

Did you use canned pumpkin or fresh? I used cooked fresh pumpkin that was pureed in a food processor. I threw this in a grain bag, and honestly I don't think I lost much at all through that grain bag!

    Home Brew Gone Wrong!

If this happens, can you possibly just boil your wort a little longer (or again) to kill off anything that may be introduced and then start the cooling process over? I've never had it happen, but I would be PISSED if I had to waste a batch simply because water was introduced that shouldn't have...

Cherry Wheat - how much cherries to use and how to prepare them?

I also believe that Sam Adams uses SWEET cherries, which gives it that cough syrup taste that many do not like.

Cherry Wheat - how much cherries to use and how to prepare them?

I poured everything into my carboy, even the water. I did put the cherries in a hop sack so I could easily seperate the cherries from the wort by pulling the hop sack out of the carboy neck. A little challenging, but it can be done.

Cherry Wheat - how much cherries to use and how to prepare them?

I used canned, red tart cherries from Oregon Fruit Products. It is just cherries in water, it wasn't a cherry pie kit or anything. I actually got them at Wal-Mart too. I put in 4 cans in my last cherry wheat (5 gallon batch) and it seemed like a crowd pleaser. I believe it was a 14.5 OZ can.

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

I brewed this yesterday and I put my pumpkin goop in a LARGE grain bag. The grain bag appeared to have contained the pumpkin goo very well. I used real pumpkin that we boiled down, and not canned pumpkin. I also used a full pound of rice hulls and I did not have to drain slowly at all. No...
