My HopStopper & Blichmann HopBlocker Upgrade

All I've used it with so far is a pumpkin ale.. I am still torn on it to tell you the truth. It retained around 75% of the hops pellets in the basket but even though I had a very rigorous boil, it was pretty stagnant inside the basket. So I don't know if I achieved optimal hop utilization...

Brrman! How ya been? Missed your reply - sorry about that. My latest addition is that I'm having a custom sign made for the bar - here is the proof they sent me. The different color grays note the different layers where the black will all be hand carved. It will be painted by a tattoo...

    Re-use Sanke Kegs

As far as I can measure.. the retaining springs I reference (McMaster #99142A590) are the exact same thickness as the original spiral rings. Additional bonus is they are 10 for $8.39..

    Re-use Sanke Kegs

Hmm.. I've only done it on one batch (2 kegs) so far but haven't had any leaking. I'll keep an eye out for that. I've been looking into changing my fermentation around and like the idea of using pressure.. If only the Brewhemoths would fit into my fermentation chambers.. :)

My HopStopper & Blichmann HopBlocker Upgrade

Yes.. I use a plate chiller. You can read about it here: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/my-new-wort-chilling-station-73900/ From others experience, as well as my own using a hop stopper I created out of two kitchen strainers, I believe the mesh size will be right for me.. but will find out...

Deep Six Brewing System - v3.0

I've let this thread slip.. I still have the kegs but haven't done anything further with them. And while all hope isn't lost on the project, I've mainly been focusing on perfecting my 10 gallon system. Perhaps I'll pick the project back up for use in group brew days, etc..?

    Re-use Sanke Kegs

So it looks like the beer gods have shined on me - I've landed several 1/4 and 1/6 barrel Sanke kegs to add into my collection. This is more just informational, but once you take out the retaining spring, all you need to quickly put a Sankey keg into use is McMaster #99142A590 and a cheap pair...

My HopStopper & Blichmann HopBlocker Upgrade

To make the bottom of the HopStopper basket, I cut a 14" circle from the 36"x36" sheet, drew a 10" circle in the middle, and then cut into it every inch or so. Then I folded each of those cuts up at a 90 degree angle, placed a hose clamp around it, pulled it as tight as I could, and tightened...

My HopStopper & Blichmann HopBlocker Upgrade

So - first off, I stole a lot of this directly from this thread ( https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/hopster-hopscreen-157529/ ) but I thought I'd start my own as I started out with the idea of just modifying a Blichmann HopBlocker I recently picked up on the cheap. Here are some photos: All...
