    Northern Brewer Kits

Have have used several of their kits, all have come with the prescribed ingredients. I have also e-mailed them about putting together a "custom" kit which they have been very helpful with. I have bought kits from AHS, Midwest, and NB. I also know if you do business with NB they will take are...

Review my Recipe (Partial Mash Full Boil)

Thanks Brad I will heed to your suggestions and drop to 1/4 pound. I was adding the Oats just for the feel. Maybe I will keep them in. I wanted to develop a recipe out of grains that I really like aiming toward a Black ale style beer. This was my first draft and knew there would be...

Review my Recipe (Partial Mash Full Boil)

I know it is not a "style beer". I never colored in the lines either. I am more interested in the grain ratios and if anyone has used the summit in lieu of the magnum. I am thinking the oats may have to leave though.

    Favorite Bottles

I like the Deschutes Bottle. It is the simple brown bottles with a raised hop garland around the shoulder. Plus I don't mind drinking the contents. http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/BrewPub/OnTap/140995.aspx

how long does a normal propane tank last you?

I don't understand why everyone is advising to buy a second tank???? I have yet to run out I and I only refill my tank once a year!!! My tank is 1000 gallons it is used by my stove, water heater, furnace, and BBQ. Finally a plus for not having natural gas in my area!!!

    Help with 1554 Clone

I am trying to figure out a recipe for a mini-mash Black Ale - (steam type 1554). I have found recipes for all grain, I can’t do AG as of yet, but none for mini-mash. I have never created a recipe so I am having trouble jumping into this. Any suggestion or should I just use this kit with a...

    New Guy From SE Idaho

Thanks. The nut brown is in secondary now will be bottles in about 2 weeks. The Doc brew and Mrs address looks like a house. There has also been a listing for a "barley's" but it is also a house. I just need to look around and make some calls.

    Sweet Stout

When brewing a sweet stout will my final gravity be higher than normal due to the non-fermentable lactose in the recipe. This is more of a general question not a question on when fermentation is done. starting gravity was 1048.

    New Guy From SE Idaho

Just wanted to say hello and Thanks to all the posters at this site . After spending countless hours reading here (and elsewhere) I started into brewing. I have long wanted to brew but found many reasons to put it off until now. I brewed my first batch this weekend, a nut brown, and have...
