    Your "Go To" Beer?

Lived in the Sweetwater Ranch development - Up Silverbell to Goret, couple miles from there. Always liked the dirt roads around there for running. Aside from Dragoon, I really miss Tap and Bottle - another great place to go. Bought one of their metal growlers, always gets a comment when I get...

    Your "Go To" Beer?

Left Tucson Jan 2015 to move to MD, and really miss Dragoon - lived just a few miles from there. They started up well, loved their dark session beer! My last beer there with my Dad, just before I moved, tried their first iteration of Lazarus...one of the best beers I've ever had!!!

Gonna have a baby, is my life over

Congratulations! Speaking as a father of four (2 boys 9 1/2, 8 and 2 girls, 5 and 2 1/2), and as an engineer who LIKES ROUTINE sometimes...the trick for me was getting used to the new normal. Changes yes, and some things, you won't be able to do as much or frequently, but I believe you gain...

    Goin to Germany

You know how they like to mix stuff in their beer there? Radlers, Cola-bier, etc? Try a good Bananenweizen. 2/3 hefe, 1/3 banana juice. Got a 0.5L, took a sip, figured I could knock back 3-4 if we weren't driving - I'm not a quantity drinker, but almost gave my preggo wife the stink-eye for...

    The Great HBT Taco Thread

Moved here from Tucson about 14 months ago, haven't found good street tacos/tortas yet. Although, a coworker just clued me into a taco shop in a gas station here in MD, R&R Taqueria - menu says they've got lengua/cabeza...making a pilgrimage there next week. http://www.rrtaqueria.com/

    Favorite Board Games

We've got that one - boys play that a lot with their cousins (helped everyone through a game this past weekend. Should try Forbidden Desert as well.

    What Does Brandy Taste Like?

Most of the brandy I've purchased recently is for cocktails (wifey loves a good Sidecar), and sipping neat, seems a bit too sweet. But, recently purchased Asbach 3 yr old german brandy - tastes a bit drier, and I think will be more to my liking sipping straight, while being cheap enough I'll...

    Favorite Board Games

Think I settled on that as the next tabletop gaming purchase. Seems like my boys could handle it(almost 10 and 8), and quicker to play/set up than Settlers of Catan.

Men: Getting snipped. Yay or nay?

So what's your take on the "spontaneous reversals"? I'm still a bit paranoid sometimes about a late reversal, after going through my procedure -no needle/scapel, and IIRC, cautery on both ends of both tubes, Fascial interposition. Zero swimmers on first followup, zero a year later. Am I nuts...

    Favorite Board Games

Just played Catan with the Traders and Barbarians expansion, with my boys (9 1/2 and 8) the other day - liked the variations from T&B. May have to check out some of those other euro games you've got on your list too - heard good stuff about them. Wouldn't mind a deck-building card game (is it...

Looking for Braggot Advice - Hop Additions?

Hey all, So I'm brewing up a "Killer Bee Braggot" this weekend - basically, shooting for a ~5.5% Brown Ale, will add 6lb of killer bee honey just before flameout. Thoughts on hop additions? Think it was 2 oz of ~9% AA Northern Brewer I picked up. Aim was to make a big beer and age it in...

Craft Breweries in southern MD or near BWI?

Heavy Seas is good beer (haven't been to the brewery yet) and I've heard good things about Jailbreak. Duclaw is good, over at Ann Arundel Mills (outlet mall). But, I LOVE Pub Dog in Columbia. Pizza, wings and beer (brewed elsewhere in MD) served in two small mugs vs 1 pint glass - just their...

Zen acts: fixing a hole within you and without you

Running a mud/obstacle run like Warrior Dash. I find that once I'm a bit fatigued from the running, some of the obstacles, there's almost a precision in my mind going on about where to grab, what to reach for, how to move. Hard to explain.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

Likewise...first time trying the plate setter in the ceramic grill. Worked well, but pulled the pork in an hour or two too early. Needed an earlier start, or less-crazy natives (4 kiddos) - didn't quite fall apart as much as I'm used to.

    Wifey's Spent Grain Bread Recipe:

Looks like it worked out well for you - nice job! The recipe does make mutant loaves, doesn't it! Don't know if it's the spent grains or what.

    Anyone entering NHC?

I'm giving it a try - just kegged and bottled our house mild, thought it would make a good entry. Came in at 4.0-4.1% ABV, so I might get dinged there - just a touch high.

    Wifey's Spent Grain Bread Recipe:

My wife bakes hers in a loaf pan, she says maybe that could make a difference. Ours is a reasonably thin crust.

Pour your own craft beer bar

The thing I love about draft at home is being able to pour a pint with dinner, then maybe another half a glass if my wife and I are lingering at the table after the kids are done. Or, she (on the petite side) can have a small glass of whatever I've got on tap. I do like the bartender...

    What's your favorite local/regional dish?

If you haven't been, the trucks S side of Grant, just a few yards west of 6th ave were very good too.
