    Southern Maryland

I'm up in Carroll County, so usually go to Maryland Homebrew in Columbia, but found this place near PAX - http://www.dannyshomebrew.com/ - never been there myself though, or PAX for that matter.

    Adding spices to your coffee

I was going to suggest cardamom when I saw the post topic. I sprinkle a couple dashes in the filter basket on weekends, frequently. Learned that one when I tried turkish coffee years back - one of my favorite ways to make coffee, but do it infrequently now.

    Stupid Joke Thread!

So a skeleton walks into a bar, and orders a beer and a mop... Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar. And doesn't.

    Eastern PA, D.C, VA Trip

We've got some nice farmhouse breweries in Carroll County MD - Milkhouse and Red Shedman are both great (plus, Red Shedman is adjacent to Linganore Winery (on the same farm))

    Scotland Breweries to visit

Regarding scotches, give Auchentoshan a try - lowland, and unusually for scotch, it's triple distilled rather than twice. Sweeter, as far as scotches go.

Quitting my job, family of 4. What next?

Maybe set up a profile on LinkedIn. Helped my job search. With my now-employer, I'd see jobs posted on their website, but on Linkedin, I'd see the same req, along with an HR contact - so, I'd send a direct message via linked in to the HR contact with my tailored cover letter, and try and...

Quitting my job, family of 4. What next?

Ok, I'll take a swing at this - background, I graduated Ariz. State. Univ. in Dec 1998, B.S. Electronic Engineering Tech (option in computer systems), took a job at Raytheon in Tucson doing production test support. 1 to 1.5 years in, decided I wanted to get into national security / intel work...

    Video Games

I enjoyed all three of those (even #3, despite the ending drama), but I think #2 was the biggest leap forward - graphics much better than #1, and the story was incredible. Looking forward to ME: Andromeda. In the meantime, got Deus Ex Mankind Divided - was $18 or so on Steam this past weekend...

Yep! Just over 2 years, love it here!

Still looking for other chances - not having been in any of the branches, be a good way for me as an analyst to get a taste of the "real world", see firsthand what isn't covered in our sims and stuff.

Name That Skyline - Picture Game

Nicely done, you got it! Got a chance to go out there to help with a data collection exercise. Couple colleagues had berths on the USS Ronald Reagan, I had a slot on the USS Chancellorsville. We dash out a few days early, since we were worried the ships would leave port to avoid Typhoon...

Nope. But had to look up Devenish Island, looks interesting.

Name That Skyline - Picture Game

Well then, I'll just cut to the chase and post one - here's a good one - I'll post the story after someone gets the skyline:

Nice. Miss main campus - my last two years were at East Campus, didn't like that move. But I'm sure I got the photo right...that's Tucson, shot from SW of downtown.

What, no credit for my 2nd rate university comment? ;-)

Tucson - downtown in the foreground, 2nd-rate university behind that...(disclaimer, born in Tucson, and lived there after graduating from ASU until Jan 2015...)

New Bayou Classic burner - maybe problem?

Mine does have the knob, but your description of the safety feature sounds like what was described in the owner's manual. Probably brewing this weekend, so will keep a close eye on things. Once I eased back on the air vent and just let it go, didn't repeat at all. Thanks!

New Bayou Classic burner - maybe problem?

Hello all, Just got a new Bayou Classic LP burner. Assembled it, checked the connections with soapy water per instructions, didn't see any problems. Lit er up - seemed normal, opened the air shutter to blue flames, and kept going - once the air shutter was maybe 3/4 or a bit more open, big...

North of you in Carroll County MD, that was my first blizzard. Learned the day of the blizzard is NOT the day to first test your secondhand snowblower...
