The cost of craft beer, holy cow that's pricey.

For the stuff I buy - 8 to 12 a 4 pack is about the norm. People freak out over that but will drink a shaker pint of Bud Light at 4 bucks each like that's cheap and a good buy in the bar. Doing the math - 4 shaker pints of Bud at 16 bucks or 4 good beers, little less volume for 12 - no brainer...

Craft Trying to Buy-Out AB-Inbev - Crowdfunding Campaign

    1. They'll never collect and even if they did hit the mark - that's always moving. 2. It's purely a marketing gimmick to get your email address. You do that -get some swag. 3. It has gotten noticed big time which is all it was about. They produced a blurb on par with what the big breweries do...

What are your contrarian/"unpopular" beer opinions?

Another one - it's dying some lately but I still see it. I do not have to support a craft brewery just because they AREN'T BMC. You still have to make good beer or beer that's pleasing to my palate. I shouldn't just throw money at you because you aren't someone else.

    Upgrade Justification

I'm single so the only person I have to justify things to is my cat and she don't care. 500 is nothing to sneeze at - particularly at one jump, just make sure you never add up what you spend here and there. I might have 500 in broken hydrometers around here.... Generally I look at it as this -...

What are your contrarian/"unpopular" beer opinions?

There is no such thing as seasons for beer. Stouts are tasty year round. IPA-bros wouldn't know a good beer from a bad beer - IBU and "whalez bro" are all they care about and it's making 'beer culture' and craft beer bars less appealing places to be.

Brew Out Front or Out Back?

I understand some concern about a water restricted area. I don't know if I'd actually say something to someone tho. I live about 5 blocks off a lake that is 22,404 square miles in surface area and holds 1,180 cubic MILES of water by volume. No one notices a little water at the end of the...

Brew Out Front or Out Back?

Garage/driveway. I have a ranch. I don't really care what the neighbors think. I'm literally surrounded by cops and nuclear engineers. No one bats an eye at weird stuff going on in the driveway. This town is weird. Its industry are nuke plants, pot/pan mfg and a welding shop with the #1...

    Fatherhood And Brewing

Consumption will change but brew days will get more awesome. My son would help out and loved to brew. We discussed very basic and rudimentary science as it all happened and yeast starters were one of his favorite things as well. It's a chance to spend time together an regardless of what...

    Don't Do That.

    1. Break up with your girlfriend of 4 years with a killer 3 year old Kriek going in the basement. Necessitated me moving to a new home and moving the kriek. Didn't work and coated the bed of my truck nicely. 2. Basically quit homebrewing for 2 years only to pick up a copy of BYO at Barnes...

    Any hunters out here?

25 bucks a lb which really isn't bad. Scored another 500 AMAXs today so I'm up around 1100 which should hold me until they start making them again.

    Any hunters out here?

Runt scored a 243 from his grandfather and then shot a nice 8 point during the youth hunt this year. 100 grain Interlock through the shoulder did him in nicely. Factory ammo. I've been on a buying fiend lately to score the good stuff to reload for it. If I could just trip over some Lapua...

    Wisconsin Here I Come

Ridgeview Liquor is great - close to Lambeau as well. I can't leave that place without spending more than 50 bucks. Good selection of Belgian styled beers as well. My family is from the Esky area (Bark River) and with Bells opening a brewery (from what I hear) in Esky - I'd expect the UP to...

    Wisconsin Here I Come

I'll second Titletown for sure. Great beer and food. Probably go there 2x a month easily. Hinterland is okay as well but real expensive to eat. That's about it really for around here. (I live in GB and am a nice scooter ride away from Titletown Brewer) If you're looking for a good bar that...

    any 1911 enthusiasts out there?

I am currently sans 1911 but won't be for long. Have owned 4 2 Colts and 2 Kimbers. One of Colts was an early 70 Series in 38 Super. NEVER should have sold it. IME - I'll take the Colts over the Kimbers every day. My next 1911 will probably be a Caspian I build myself.

Where have you been drinking recently?

Driveway. Been doing more and more grilling here in Wisco so I've been drinking in the driveway while tending the grill. Nut Browns and stouts. Mostly because I love stout - year round.
