    Annoyed at myself

I just transferred to secondary. After seeing all that nice yeast at bottom I'm regretting not getting the stuff to wash and store that yeast. I feel like it is such a waste to dump it but i guess i don't have a choice. Sorry just had to vent

    Leaves vs pellet aroma

I'm looking forward to making a90 minute clone. I don't think i will make am ipa without dry hopping. I'm doing my dry hopping Thursday. I let you guys know what i chose

    Leaves vs pellet aroma

This why i started homebrewing. I can put whatever hops i want in during dry hop at whatever time and it will be one of a kind. These suggestions definitely help since its my first one but knowing that there are no boundaries is exciting. There is nothing like getting smacked in the face with...

    Leaves vs pellet aroma

I'm using cascade pellets and was gonna run and get centennial since the ipa is all centennial. I think they only have pellets available so this thread might be pointless for now until i brew my next one but if they have whole cones ill do both

    Leaves vs pellet aroma

Then ill do pellets for 3 days and then add the whole cones for 7. Ten days total should do the trick.

    Leaves vs pellet aroma

Well my kit came with them so I'm definitely using them but I'm gonna go buy some whole hops. Should i do pellets first so that they have more time to drop out

    Leaves vs pellet aroma

I want to double dry hop and was wondering if there was a difference in how long the aroma stays. I was thinking about adding pellets in the primary and whole hops in the secondary or adding one then the other a week apart. Do you think it will make a difference

    Another dry hopping ?

I'm just dumping straight in for a least a week. Everything should fall to the bottom especially when i cold crash it. I mainly want to use the secondary for dry hopping cause I'm gonna use the primary for an imperial Ipa. My other glass carboys are only 5 gallons and I'm saving them for a stout...

    changing ipa recipe to dipa

Thanks that definitely fits what was looking for. Ill check my lhbs to make sure they got what i need. They should. Have you made anything similar to this. About the 69 minute boll is that simply for getting more bitterness from the hops. Also would you recommend liquid yeast or could i use dry...

    changing ipa recipe to dipa

i have this ipa fermenting but i would like to try to make it a dipa. this currently has about 6%abv and 46 ibus. i want to make it around 8 -9% abv and at least 70 ibus Kit Profile: Original Gravity: 1.066 Malts & Specialty Grains - 9 lbs. Light DME - 1lb. Caramel 60L (Steeping...

    Batch size question.

Also should i use my 6.5 bucket or split it into two 5 gallon carboys. I WAs considering the carboys so i can bottle one and age the other for a couple months. Oh yea its an old Rasputin clone by the way

    Batch size question.

I'm gonna do a late extract addition to help with hop utilization. How much longer should i boil it. Let's say 20 minutes. Would i do those 20 and then start my 60 minute. Could i just pitch 2 dry packets of yeast. Its only my second batch and im not ready to do a starter. I could but i want to...

    Batch size question.

Im thinking of brewing a ris. The batch size is 5.5 gallons and the boil says 4 gallons. My brew pot is only 5 gallons. I don't want to chance a boil over with 4 gallons. Do you think it would change the beer too much if i boiled 3 or 3 and a half and topped it off to 5 and half.

Was confident but I'm panicking again

Well i have nothing else to do but worry until its done. I'm cash strapped so I can't grab another kit to take my mind off if it. I got 3 carboys just sitting begging for beer inside. This is not that big of a screwup compared to some of the other things I've read. She is fermenting again so it...

Was confident but I'm panicking again

I have faith in my yeast that they will finish the job i just hope there wasn't too much oxygen in the fermenter when i sloshed it. Ill taste it next weekend and see. The sample tasted so good. I'm gonna be pissed if that little mistake ruins my first batch.

Was confident but I'm panicking again

So i took a gravity reading and it was 1.02 my temp was 60 so I decided to swirl the yeast back into suspension and move it to a warmer area. I know it started back up cause the airlock was bubbling and fermometer temp is now 66 ambient is like 63. My problem is the wort was only sealed up for...

    Another dry hopping ?

Yea i understand that but should i cold crash before i add the hops in primary
  19. demonx06

    Another dry hopping ?

I'm still debating about dry hopping in secondary or primary but with either choice should i cold crash first. Im gonna give the yeast a few more days to clean up before i do anything. Its been in primary for 2 weeks and fermometer temp is 61

    So happy

Thanks. So much pressure is off my shoulders now knowing it taste good cause obviously that's the goal. As long as i can make it through secondary and bottling without a problem ill be in business. I'm still stuck on what I'm gonna make next. I think i want to make a chocolate stout around 7abv...
