Your recipe is not really conducive to a rich red color. A truly red ale is a homebrewers challenge. I have had great success with German Red X malt.

If this is your temporary solution to store food for the current crisis, simply remove the innards and disconnect your controller. You'll pay a couple bucks more a month in electricity, but when it's time to start brewing again it won't be such a hassle.

Do you also spray your countertops with food grade disinfectant, then wipe them down with a sponge that's wallowing in it's own filth? :eek:
