Ok, that's kind of what I was picturing. Since I'm largely going with copper I'll likely just add a 45 degree elbow to the inside of the fitting I use to return the wort from the cooling plate. It should serve the same function.

That's what I was figuring for the valve. Any advice for returning the wort from a chiller plate? I initially thought just down thru the top but that leads to a lot of agitation to the wort leading to foam and mixing up the sludge.

Without a pump for the mt how would I cycle through the heat exchange? Or move the wort to the kettle?

That's actually the direction I was fearing going since if I wanted one for kettle and one for HLT those things aren't cheap :)

How important is said contactor? Above and beyond the SSR I mean.
