    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Hophoarder is trying to 'filter' out some of the flour and loose grain that comes with BIAB by doing a hybrid BIAB... Give it a try, can't hurt and if you like the results:ban: Until I started doing 1-gallon batches, I would have to do a batch sparge with BIAB because I didn't have a pot big...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Tannins was a concern of mine as well until I did some reading here on HBT. So I did a search and I've been following the advice here on HBT...mash pH and high temps will cause tannins. I've done BIAB going on my second year and so good so far. If you're not convinced than yeah just use a...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

I don't know what you may consider not as efficient but my last 2 BIAB SMaSH's I got 85% and 83% efficiencies and I didn't sparge just mashed in my volume of water. 1. Are you grinding your grains fine enough? 2. Are you squeezing/pressing the daylights out of the bag? When I sparge, I...

You could rack from the kettle to your fermenter....I've been pouring from the kettle right into the fermenter...I pour slowly, trying to leave as much trub behind.

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

Dads...I think until you scale up your recipes you'll only get 8 to 9 bottles out of the 1-gallon carboys. I had the same problem when I did bigger batches. For example, I would only get 45 bottles out of a 5-gallon batch or 22 bottles out of a 2.5 gallon batch...so I would scale up the recipes...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

After looking for the best/cheap way to do 1-gallon batches, I finally just settled on getting the 2-gallon buckets with grommet in the lid from the LHBS. I think I'll just pick one up the next couple of times I stop in for ingredients. In a couple of trips, I'll have enough to do multiple batches.

Used the refractometer for pre-boil and post boil gravity checks...very simple and very small amount of wort needed. Used a straw to take a sample, placed sample into shot glass and only needed 2 or 3 drops of that sample. Wish I would of gotten one sooner. It will make getting future samples...

@Dads....Go Bears... I'm brewing my 1-gallon Warrior SmaSH right now. I think I'm going to need a more sensitive scale that will read tenths of grams. I was measuring out my yeast and my regular food scale wasn't giving me an accurate reading...ugh. Oh well I'm moving forward... EDIT: I bought...

I rack to my big batch bottling bucket and bottle like I usually do. Not perfect but works... Side note...I tried to drill a hole into a 2-gallon frosting bucket for my bottling spigot. Tried is the key word...my 1" bore chewed up the plastic:drunk:...thank goodness I got for free.

+1 You said it better than I could. Also thanks to all of you on HBT, you have helped me to make better beer than I could have on my own.:mug:

4 oz is plenty of hops...I'm doing a 1-gallon SMaSH with Warrior Hops 16%AA this weekend and I only need 1/2 oz of hops.

I'm at work right now but I was checking in time to time. I had the sound turned down so no worries for me. Pretty cool watching someone brew in 'real time'
