    Mash Tun Building Issues

I am wondering if I need to have a washer on the inside of the cooler to keep the gaskets from roling up onto the barb piece. I have tried it with the big white washer turned around and I still get leaks.

    Mash Tun Building Issues

I have decided to make the leap from extract to all grain. My extract beers are coming out drinkable, but I can't seem to get rid of the extract twang. I recently moved to full boils and that did not help. Although, the beer I am drinking now is better as it as aged a little more. Anyway, I...

    Boil Away

I did my first full boil this weekend. I started off with just over 6.5 gallons of water. I only had about a pound of grains to steep but when all was said and done, I only have 4 or so gallons of beer in my primary fermenter. Is it typical to loose that much in a full boil? I am assuming...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Bourbon Vanilla Porter (AG)

I was putting this recipe into my BeerSmith software and I am trying to figure out the water amounts for the Mash and the Sparge. I am assuming I will be around 70% eff. as this will be my first all grain batch. I am looking at 1.25 qt/lb for the mash. So with 18 pounds of grain I will need...
