    What's the Best Hef?

I lived outside Stuttgart when I was younger (1983-1986). Waaay too young to drink though. :p I finally had the opportunity to return last month, and I made sure I got my fill of beer. I think I had 3L of beer every day - 1L w/every meal. LOL 10 days x 3L = my poor liver. My favorite pic...

    What's the Best Hef?

IMO, Paulaner makes the best Hefe. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/124/1256/ Tucher is a close 2nd. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/129/371/

    So you make beer...big deal

Grilled whole red snapper > * :D I love grilling/smoking. :) I've become a charcoal snob as of late though. I refuse to use anything but lump charcoal to cook with anymore.

Family members resurrect Griesedieck Brothers Beer

Not a very flattering name for a beer. :D http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/neighborhoods/stories.nsf/news/story/0185D7F854607A5086257058005096C2?OpenDocument History bubbles beneath the brew from the center tap at Dewey's Pizza. Dewey's partner Dave Justice caught a glimpse of the...

    Did I start too early?

Thanks. I guess I just need to drink more to counter-act the worrying. :D I got the blowoff tube from www.heartshomebrew.com It looked a lot easier to clean than a plastic tube. lol

    Did I start too early?

Sorry, more n00b questions.. :p It's been about 48hr since I pitched the yeast. The krausen appears to have subsided already, but it never blew out the tube, like I thought it would. There's still some hops in there from a strainer 'incident' when pouring the wort into the fermenter...

    bottled Hefe

I'm hoping my Hefe comes out as well. I just brewed it on Saturday, so I have a while before I can taste it.

    Did I start too early?

Well, no explosions. :D I got my batch going yesterday. I managed to get some hops into the fermenter though, but hopefully it won't be a big deal. When I woke up this morning, it was fermenting away. I didn't expect this much activity. :)

    Did I start too early?

Thanks for the reply. I had to leave for work in a rush this morning, so I didn't get a chance to get a starter going. I thought about putting it back in the fridge, but I didn't know if that would shock the yeast. I left it out, so hopefully i don't come home to an explosive mess. :D...

    Did I start too early?

I'm getting ready to brew my first batch tomorrow, so I pulled my liquid yeast pack out last night before going to bed and activated it. When I woke up, it was already swollen to about 2 inches thick. I was under the impression it would take a few days to get to that point. Will it be ok...
