    Freaking Out in Houston

Fun times.... :| I remember going through all of that last year. 3 times. Unfortunately, these things bring out the bad in a lot of people.. I remember people fighting over propane and ice last year. On a good note, I met most of my neighbors and discovered they're all pretty nice people...

Just picked up a free deep-freezer - is it big enough?

I 'Did it' today with the temperature controller... :| Credit cards are evil. Credit cards + alcohol = Evil² ?

Homebrewing on Food TV today (9/20/05)!

Well, I failed... I'm not sure what setting I had my PVR on, but the end result was a 1.8GB file with wonderful video - and no sound. :(

You guys act as if the computer wasn't developed exclusively for high-speed porn downloads... Sheesh. Or can they actually do other things too?

Just picked up a free deep-freezer - is it big enough?

I went to the LHBS today and picked up an external controller. I had him measure a corny keg for me while I was there. IIRC, it was ~25" tall, so I should have plenty of room. :) Now I just have to convince myself that I should spend the money on all the kegging equipment...

Thanks, I'll look into one of those sites when I get home. I can't remember which codec I set for it to encode with, so I may need to re-encode it to cut the file size down to something reasonable.

Great! Think a case will last a few hrs, or should I bring more? How long are those meetings anyway? I don't want them cutting into my drinking time.

Nice. I just remoted into my home pc and set my PVR to record it. If someone has the space to host the file, I can upload it for all to watch.

I think true alcoholics go to meetings. :p I guess I'm really screwed if I drink 3-4 beers a night, huh?

    the beer and the light...

I have mine in a spare bedroom, with a heavy blanket covering the window. Besides cutting light out, it seems to keep the room about 10 degrees cooler than the other rooms. I also keep the carboys in plastic tubs with the lids on.

Well, the keyboard and mouse work again. Some keys still like to stick though. The speakers cleaned up nicely. However, the battery backup is toast. I think I'll douse the kb/mouse with alcohol to clean them, then see if anyone at work wants them.

Don't forget a pot big enough to boil at 2-3 gallons of liquid.

It was just one of those lucky moments I guess. Mine comes when destroying things instead of when I play the Lotto. I'll check them out when I get home to see if they're any better. It was an excuse to upgrade anyway.

Just picked up a free deep-freezer - is it big enough?

As the title says, a friend just gave me an old deep freezer. I plan on picking up an external temp controller next week. The internal dimensions are ~28Hx38Wx24D, with a 12x10 portion on the right hand side taken up by the compressor, etc. It seems like it will be deep enough for carboys...

One semi-drunken bump just cost me my wireless keyboard/mouse, brand-new (yesterday) logitech speaker system, and battery backup. Do they have insurance for stupid, drunken mistakes?

Wouldn't it be hard to get the muslin bag out of the carboy? I was just planning on throwing mine directly in.
