    Thanks. It also calls to add crystals that appear to be water hardener. I don't see those mentioned in any books. Could it be specific to the recipe? Ingredients: 2 - 3.3 lb cans of Malt Extract 1 lb Crystal Malt (grain, crushed) 1 1/2 oz hop pellets 1 pkg water salts

    Help with first time homebrew

    Really? I'm getting ready to start my first round today. When I picked up my kit at the local home brew store, the lady told me to start fermentation in the bucket, then rack to carboy after 4 days. It sounds like that would essentially give me the same problem.
