How often do you drink homebrew???

I'll usually have 1-2 on weeknights, and "a healthy amount" on sat. Sunday maybe 1, but it really depends on what i did the day before. lol, I'm the same exact way, and SWMBO just rolls her eyes when I come home with a few random bottles.

    A Star San "no-rinse" question

I use star-san on bottles all the time without issue. After i soak them I leave them upside down on my dish drying rack untill I bottle, which is usually a few hours later.

propane burner useage on wood deck?

well, I did 2 batches back to back this weekend, and there were no heat issues under the burner. Of course the second i get everything set up to start boiling the wort the landlord walks by, and got freaked out when he thought it was a pot full of oil for deep frying. He gave me a sideways...

propane burner useage on wood deck?

lol pumbaa. Thanks for the advice guys, I just saw all the warnings in the burner manual and figured I should double check. So if the landlord is uneasy about it i'll put a cement board underneath.

propane burner useage on wood deck?

It sounds like a fire waiting to happen, but does anyone do this? I just picked up the Bayou Classic ($40 one) because the electric stove in my new apartment couldnt heat a large (4 gal) volume of water past 150. I have a big wood deck (about 12x12) right outside my door which would be the...

    licorice root in porters

has anyone used this in anything? And more importantly does the taste of it fade over time? I brewed up a porter with it that was bottled 2 weeks ago which I dumped in 2 oz of it (definatly a little too much) and the upfront sweetness of it is a bit too much. But other then that its...

    How tough is my thermometer?

I was letting it touch the bottom when I was steeping grains and it never broke... It did however break when I picked it up, realized, s*** 170 degrees is really hot, and then immedialy droped in back into the pot.

    Star San Question

Yeah, the owern of 5-star said on one of the brewing network shows said the 30 second to 2 min contact time is no problem, but he doesnt reccomend letting it sit in there over night.

    newb ? about bottled beer

I think i read somewhere, maybe Palmers how-to-brew, that if you prime with DME it can leave a little ring around the neck of the bottle... like a mini krausen ring. So hopefully its not an infection, let us know!

    Free beer

I'm sure I'm going to mislead several people with the title of this threat, but I came across an intersting article in wired today about an open source beer; dont know if anyone has posted it yet. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.09/posts.html?pg=6 and the webpage which they have...
