Drilling a hole in my 40 QT aluminum brew pot

I'm about to do this on my brew pot and wanted to confirm something on your setup. I understood that the locknut should be on the inside of the pot, with the washers on the outside. At least that's the way I read the install instructions from Bargain Fittings. Did I have that backwards? It...

    houston Pubs

There are several places I've been meaning to check out. One is the Petrol Station: http://www.facebook.com/PetrolStation Not sure if they have another website, but their selection of beers looks really good. They are not too far from the heights. I need to try the Anvil Bar & Refuge...

Using a WinPak as a fermenter

Where did you find the threaded caps pictured above. That looks like a nice solution, but I can't seem to find them on the US Plastics website. Ron

Using a WinPak as a fermenter

Quick question, when doing the no chill method in Winpak, do you put the hot wort in and seal it up until it cools? Do you just put the regular cap on for this or an airlock? Doesn't it suck the sides of the Winpak in while it is cooling if you just cap it? Thanks. Ron

St.Arnold's Beer and kits from AHS

I was at the St. Arnold's newery yesterday and got to talk to Brock. They started brewing at the new brewery on Saturday, so they are officially moved. Yesterday they held and AHA Rally at the newery. I did ask about a couple of things in their brew process with one interesting note about...

Help me understand something - RIMS/eHERMS Sparge

It's all in your point of view, or Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics. Jkarp's graph is 0 to 100%, lamarguy's is 50 to 100%. If the graphs were plotted over the same areas they would look much closer, which is I think what jkarp was pointing out. Love the discussion though guys, very...

What to look for when buying Corny kegs?

You might be better served by buying from one of the HBT vendors who get high ratings. I'm not affiliated with them, but all my purchases from keg connection have been great. I'm sure there are other vendors that have great service as well. ***Edit - sorry when I read the original post I must...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

Anybody aware of a container that could be used for no chill that is around the 3 gallon size? I searched on the US Plastic site and didn't see any. I like to try some weird beers and usually do them in small batches. I'd like to try them no chill but I need a suitable container. I've got...

It could be moisture as well. It does not take much to make a GFCI trip. Did you check it for leaks before running it? Ron

    Kill-A-Watt Brewery Build Compilation

So my understanding is the neutral and ground should always be tied together at the main box but never at the sub panel. You only tie them together at the service entrance. Since the subpanel is an extension of the main panel if you tied them together again you create the potential for an...

    St. Arnolds Bottles?

Living in the Houston area I see a lot of St. Arnolds bottles that I could be using to bottle. Problem is they are twist offs and I have always stayed away from those. I do have a bench capper, so I'm thinking about giving them a try. Does anybody have any experience bottling with St...

Using a WinPak as a fermenter

I just got a couple to start doing no chill, but I haven't gotten the stopper yet. Does the 11 1/2 stopper fit in the opening without using the cap? So no drilling required? Thanks. Ron
