    Rookie Lesson for the Rookies

Good stuff! I really enjoy brewing and it is something to remember RDWHAHB! I couldn't wait till after dinner to start my first partial mash. I had sanitized two spoons and in the course of cooking dinner and boiling wort. I looked down to notice that I was stirring the wort w/ same spoon...

    torpedo extra IPA

I am hoping this will be somewhat close to the tricerahops double IPA as well. I had one tonight and thought it might be close. I am excited to see the outcome.

Can you mix your LME/DME is a small pot and then add it?

New here too, I think you will be fine. You are chemically doing what you are supposed to do just not all in one pot at one time. Your results should be just fine.

    torpedo extra IPA

Will do. I am going to let it sit in Primary for three weeks before dry hopping the magnum, liberty and citra. I had to move my stout to secondary(5gal. better bottle) last night to free up my 6.5 fermenter. I tasted it and checked the gravity. It is dropping nicely and it tasted really...

    torpedo extra IPA

For a starter I boiled up a quart(total) of light Ale LME and added safale-05. I let this sit at 66-68 degrees for around 24 hours. It was really rockin' when I pitched it so I think it was a pretty good start. I plan to hold it at at no higher than 68 degrees right now in a nice cool...

    torpedo extra IPA

I have been researching Torpedo clones on-line and I reached this recipe from some all-grain recipes and talking w/ my local home brew shop owner. I went ahead and brewed it up and I reached an OG of 1.064 so I will keep you posted on the results.

One more thing. Can I steep my .5lbs. of grain in the 2 gallons that I am adding the LME into?

    torpedo extra IPA

Hello all- I have been lurking this forum for awhile as I have been learning as much as I can about home brewing. I have made a couple extract beers from Mr. Beer and Cooper's and am preparing to produce an extract/grain combo in an attempt to come close to my favorite beer: SN Torpedo I...
