    07.07.07 Recipe discussion thread

So start over and begin again. I like experimenting, so Im brewing what was proposed. No big deal to me if it turns out less than expected. But dont let the idea die. We still have time to make it for 07.07.07. Hell its only 2.19, so theres time. I followed everyones choice from last year, and...

    Another Rye Beer

Cool, thanks man! I hardly order from More Beer anymore, only because of the shipping time from west coast to east coast. Usually takes 10 to 13 days to receive an order from them. So I usually order from Northern Brewer or Midwest, as they are in Minnesota, and the shipping time is much...

    07.07.07 Recipe discussion thread

Yes, the WLP051 California V is supposed to be the same as the Wyeast 1272. I love both strains, but the 1272 has a more prominent and cleaner fruity flavor. As for the grain bill, it should be fine. The Pale and Vienna will work easy together, since Ive used Vienna a base malt before, and it...

How long to condition a wheat beer?

I agree with the others, wheats are excellent when drank young and fresh. They seem to lose a lot of their character when aged. I keg mine and start drinking them as soon as they are carbonated. Excellent flavor, and just right.

    07.07.07 Recipe discussion thread

Im still planning on brewing it. The grain bill was decided upon, and the hops were finally agreed on by the last few survivors of the threads. And so far those brewing it were leaning towards Wyeast 1272. So, I dont see anymore problems at all.

    Magic Hat #9

Cool, thanks for your take on fruit extracts. I keg everything, and would rather have something that takes a little less time to mellow, and found a couple sites that sell fresh purees. Another recipe to make.

    Magic Hat #9

Anyone else love this beer? What makes this beer taste like it does? Magic Hat lists it as being "brewed clandestinely" and doesnt talk about what gives it its unique taste. Listed is: Pale malt, Crystal Malt, with Tettnang and Warrior hops, and English Ale yeast. Anyone have any input...

    Is it too late!?!

Dont give up on it. Keg it, carbonate it, and then draw a pint and decide.

    Wyeast Question

The benefit of the "smack" is to release yeast nutrients, and in essence, you are doing a mini starter if you allow it to swell. The end result of your method is just a lag in ferment time. You will indeed have fermentation, just not as quick. The main thing you want is to lower the time it...

SWMBO has a container of it in the kitchen as well. Neutral taste for sure. Let me know if you experiment, and your results.

1st AG brew ends in disaster

Glad you didnt get hurt man, thats what counts first. It definately sucks that your session went south like that. No matter what, get another batch going as soon as possible. Dont dwell on it, just learn from it. Every time I brew, I try to remember the dangers of glass carboys, and do my...
