    Well, it happened....sad.

Truly sorry to hear that Dude, my thoughts go out to you. There is never anything anyone can say that actually calms and soothes the pain of such a loss. But just know people are thinking about you. Living near Boston, I knew a couple of people on Flight 11, which was hijacked out of Logan...

    Cactus

I watched a Modern Marvels episode that was all about tequila, and the harvesting of the blue agave. It was cool to see how they chopped all the leaves off and use the barrel shaped rootball like you posted. Mmmmmm...tequila :cross:

    Pacman - Almost gone!

I still have 4 packs of PAc-Man left. Ive re-used yeast cakes many times, but do not want to merely rack onto the yeast cakes over and over. I want it cleaner and fresher. Has anyone just made standard starters, split the batches, and then stored them away, and then made larger starters of of...

    Pacman = blowoff?

I always use a blow off set up no matter what. Every time Ive used Pac-Man, I get a very robust initial ferment. Of course I always make a 1600ml starter, and the ferment has been great. It lives up to its name, as this stuff really goes to town on the sugars, and primary ferment times are...

My first dry-hop and uh...what is it doing?

another way is to use a long muslin bag to dry hop, and sanitize a couple marbles (or steel ball bearings) and drop them in with the hops. They will absorb the wort, then sink from the weight of the marbles. Easy to clean up after as well.

micromatic regulator shut off vavles leaky? Normal?

I went the cheapy route from Micromatic and mine has yet to fail me in any way. I think mine has the same shut offs and Y block as yours. Mine work like champs and are very handy to have. If yours leak, contact Micromatic and they will replace them.

    Carboy Handle Tragedies

LOL, The word carboy is from the Persian qarabah, from Arabic qarraba, meaning "big jug". Many times in certain areas of the Mediterranean, certain rocky inlets and coves were named by their shapes. On a different note, I never use carboy handles, milk crates, straps, etc... when picking up...

    Sanyo 4912 Rear Shelf Mod

I used my original glass half shelf, and used it as a template, cutting about 1 1/2" off the leading edge and in less than 5 minutes...a rear shelf was born. Thanks again JD for the idea.

4912 tower installation - please help!

There are a couple different mindsets on the hole sizes. One is cutting a 3" hole and running a tube up into it, with the other end connected to a small fan to try and force colder air up into the tower (just remember to make sure the air can recirculate down back into the kegerator as well via...

4912 tower installation - please help!

Its ACU Sheetmtal Fabrications, where you can build your own tower. Lou, they are supposed to come with a gasket as well. Either call them up to get one sent out, or check out your auto parts store for a sheet of gasket material. I have a Micromatic tower, and the gasket was very thin. Im...

    Sanyo 4912 Rear Shelf Mod

When I placed my two tanks on it, it did indeed bow a bit, and thats why I decided on a wood replacement shelf instead of getting the glass cut.

    Sanyo 4912 Rear Shelf Mod

I removed mine when I first made it. And you are right, the glass shelf wasnt the most sturdy thing to use either.

    Sanyo 4912 Rear Shelf Mod

Yup, just got home and went to do the shelf thing, and instantly remembered..I had glass shelves. DOH! Anyway, one of the shelves is a half shelf, so I pulled everything out, and put the half shelf in the lowest spot, and, its just a tiny bit too deep. The CO2 tank will fit easy, as well as...

    Kegging and Consumption.

I read the topic and thought...Kegging and Consumption? What does tuberculosis have to do with kegging? :cross: Anyway, I find myself enjoying my homebrew more than swilling it down. Its more of a ritual than anything. Choosing the right glass, drawing a nice glassful, making sure there is a...

    Need help with force carbing

I do the lap roll as well with mine. I chill the keg, then hook up the CO2 tank, allow it to fill, then crank up the pressure, and gently roll it back and forth on my lap. If you do this in a nice quiet room, you can listen to your keg and tank, and after the initial addition of CO2, you can...

    Sanyo 4912 Rear Shelf Mod

JD, that is one cool mod! I know what I will be doing tonight when I get home. Simple, easy and now I can fit both my 5lb CO2 tank, as well as my 2.5 lb back up in there with ease. Cool stuff man!
