    Surly Coffee Bender Clone Advice

So 4oz for 2.5 gallons is the same coffee to beer ratio that I was thinking of using. I was thinking of using a hazelnut coffee, have you ever tried that type of coffee in beer?

I have done roughly a dozen 5 gallon AG batches, and want to step up to 10 gallon batches. I have a coleman extreme 52qrt, has anyone tried to use this cooler for 10 gallon batches? Doing some quick spargepal calculations that would be 6.5 gallons for 20lbs of grain.....

    low mash temps, problem?

Thanks everyone for the posts. I picked up a digital thermometer at menards for $15 on Sunday and I found an interesting iphone app called 'spare pal'. I think with those two things I shouldn't have to worry about missing my sparge temps again. On a side note, I love reusing yeast! Saves...

    low mash temps, problem?

So this was my first attempt at all grain since getting back from overseas.... I wanted to mash in at 152 for 60 minutes. I heated the water to 165 thinking that should offset my grain temp (11.5 lbs of grain) + heat my mash ton (coleman extreme). I was wrong. My temp was 144ish, so I...

    First Brew After Deployment?

I'm currently deployed overseas and can't wait to get my hands on some home brew once again. I thought I would start this discussion to get some opinions on an easy AG recipe to get me back into brewing. I've only done 6 AG recipes before I left for this wonderful part of the world, but I...

    The 'Keezer' Project

Awesome keezer, I will join the jester fan club and attempt this at some point. What type of boards did you use for the coffin, the boards surronding the marble, and the bottom cabinet? Pine, Oak, ply?

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Just kegged this last night and drew an early pint. Tastes great! Thanks Edwort, my gravity only went from 1.040 to 1.010 so it's a little lighter but is still very good and drinkable. Is there any way to make this more like a New Glarus Spotted Cow? Do they add flaked corn, because I think...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Could I increase the time in the mash tun to 90 minutes, from what I've read, doing so would just allow more time for fermentables to get introduced into the wort.
