Brew Hut Raising Weekend - 4/25

Is that tree going to hang over the hut? I'm thinking you may just want to cut it down now and not have to worry later. Good luck! Should be great!

    What you like/dislike about brewpubs.

I've found that the local brewpubs are always crowded even though they have OK beer and OK food. I'd love to be able to go, relax and maybe have a discussion about beer with the bartender or another patron. But they are way too busy and I don't enjoy the hectic atmosphere. There are a...

    The Source of Rookie Mistakes

Any of the rinse water that you run through your grain bag should be added back to your wort. Sometimes it easier to move the grain bag to a strainer and let it drip into a separate pot...but add the drippings and rinse water back to the wort before boiling.

My fridge is the Kenmore Elite 4.9 Model #564.95499400. I found it at the scratch and dent store. I checked on the sears and kenmore websites but couldn't find a link to this model...not sure if they still carry it. ~ Uncle Argyle

    2 weeks

I gave my notice when I found a new job and and I also hated breaking it to my boss (whom I also respect and like). The reason I was leaving was purely financial for me. They countered with a 21% raise and I stayed. My buddy who is an IT headhunter said the same things as the other guys in...

    Infrafred Thermometer

From the description..."Measures surface temperatures" I would want to get a reading of the middle of the mash (or close to it) rather than the surface temp.

    Help getting FG below 1.020

Bought a digital thermometer similar to BierMuncher's. Calibrated in ice water and boiling water...dead on. At the same time I calibrated my old thermometer and they were about 10 degrees too low (meaning I was mashing too high). I took my FG of Edwort's Haus Pale Ale that I just brewed on...

    Importance of Thermometor Calibration

I am having an issue getting my mash and sparge temps right and I want to invest in a decent thermometer. I am also currently using a candy thermometer and a turkey fryer thermometer for the mash. both of which you can't calibrate really...just adjust to boiling water. what do you use for a...

    Help getting FG below 1.020

After I start adding grains, it is all less than a minute. I am adding the grains and remainder of the water in a very short period of time. Once the temp drops, would activity not resume?
