i definitely want to try a Kveik. i wont be brewing for a while but have the feeling it'll be mid summer when I do ,so i may try a Kveik for that. trying to figure out what to brew and which strain to use when that time comes.

ive only dumped 2 beers out of a total of about 14 over 5 years . one was the gluten free beer i made for my dad that turned out tasting like seltzer water and the other was an extract kolsch that i used a higher than thought chlorinated water, so it was terrible. every other brew has been great.

why tell someone to make drain cleaner of it because you dont like that particular flavors...what if he enjoys that flavor...I dont like IPAS , should I tell everyone that does to dump theirs???

dunkelweizen !! use a low amount of Hallertauer or similar(less than 15 ibu's)and ferment in the low -mid 60s .

you cant pitch that hot (steaming still). why rush it? put a cork on it or a star san soaked rag over the top . if you put an airlock in it too soon it will suck the airlock contents back into the fermenter. pitch next day, it'll be fine.

Could it be the taste is more like bandaids or rubber tire and not smoky? may I take a guess these were all extract kits? and is the water youre using chlorinated (city water)? The extract kits Ive tried all tasted weird to me.

by any chance are you Croatian? You know Plum wine is a clear and right powerful liquer (and I have no idea how its really spelled but sounds like )called Schlivovitz . But the cherry addition sounds tasty ( either sweet or tart)in its own right.

im really not understanding your process. why is 1 gallon going to take up so much of your space? you make up a gallon of star san with 1 oz of the concentrate, pour some mixture in a spray bottle and spray it into each bottle ( i do 5 good stream squirts in each) shake it up so it foams ...

READ the instructions on the Star San label. it only needs 1 oz per gallon. and DO NOT RINSE the Star San out...

i dont understand why some people (the subject is usually wives) throw a fit over anything . If you and your spouse dont support each others hobbies and interests why or how did you get married in the first place? My wife more than tolerates my brewing hobby, she gets almost as excited about it...

copper is very important , something to do with eliminating impurities, otherwise the old moonshiners would have used something else . homes with well water were plumbed with it. Then CPVC was used .Nowadays its all PEX . Still a good idea to plumb in a few feet of copper to a modern system.
