Pitching a Starter in 18 hrs

I boiled up a starter on a Friday night to pitch on Sunday afternoon. Our plans are changing and I would really like to brew today (Saturday) and pitch circa 4:00. I'm wanting to pitch in a few hours which will put us at the 18-19 hour mark. But, I don't want to ruin 5 gal of belgium wit...

Final Grav High and not changing after 4 days

I haven't calibrated it so I can not for sure know it is 100% accurate. I can say that there is movement, and other brews appear close. I have some distilled water, I'll take a peek to see where it falls. Thanks for the tip.

Final Grav High and not changing after 4 days

I haven't added the coffee yet. Its still in the primary and plan on adding either french press or expresso (cold) when it goes into secondary.

Final Grav High and not changing after 4 days

I didn't make the starter because as you indicated in your post, my expected OG was 1.59. The mistaken yeast should have actually done better than what I originally ordered due to the better attenuation. Aeration is something that we have, so far, done a really good job on. This is our 5th...

Final Grav High and not changing after 4 days

Hi folks, This is a follow-on to a recipe that had with too high a OG. The recipe and problems are documented here. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/og-too-high-wrong-yeast-82371/ According to Beer Tools Pro I was expecting an OG of 1.59. I added too much molasses and ended up with...

Check my measurements - Time for secondary or bottling?

Thanks for the confirmation. I re-checked the Belgian today, and it was at 1.0105 well under the expected FG and no noticeable air-lock activity. I moved this to a secondary for conditioning. I'm undecided on staying there for 2 weeks, might go to bottle after one seeing as it was on the...

Check my measurements - Time for secondary or bottling?

Hi, I DID read the long sticky on Primary-to-Secondary. Thanks for everyone that posted. I would have added to that, but I didn't think my question or potential answers would benefit the thread. I have two worts in primary and hope to get answers on both. If I need two posts, please let...

OG too High and Wrong Yeast

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm going to wait it out, I have the equipment to keep on brewing. How To Make Beer - Part One | Homebrewing Video - Beer Making & Brewing Videos is the video I referred to. To the authors credit, I didn't even follow his advice well. I view this video...

OG too High and Wrong Yeast

Thanks for the help. So exactly how should I use "special grains? The video's I googled showed starting from room temperature with grains in, and bringing to a boil - followed by a 10-15 min steep. I have Palmers "How to brew" book and thought I got that part right.

OG too High and Wrong Yeast

Hi, This is my 5th brew and my first "DIY" recipe. I have three questions. Back Story: Wort boiled up beautifully. Dark and thick like I wanted. Was really pumped with the color and consistency up to the point I measured OG and looked at the yeast. 1) My local provider sold me the...
