    Final Gravity

Amongst other things it depends on the potential of the LME and the yeast. Just to give you an idea of the math here's an example. if the potential of LME 1040 per lb/gallon then (6.6*40)/5=52.8 i.e sg = 1053 Then if the yeast ferments 80% then 53-(53*80%) = 11 FG = 1011

    Kill-A-Watt Brewery Build Compilation

If you've had a post deleted it is for a valid reason. There are too many for a PM to explain each one. There is no need for any more "I'm for or against posts." That is OT chatter and will be deleted.

How thin can I go on my sparge?

I'm not thinking clear at present so I'm not sure what you are wanting to know. Here's some info that may be relevant. 1. Rule of thumb is mash until you have the required volume the runnings are down to 1010. 2. There is no minimum spare quantity. If you have enough grain yuo can do no...

Should I use a 10gallon water cooler or a Keggle for a mash tun?

Coolers are easier and need less attention. Kettles need almost constant attention but have a lot more flexibility. I'm about to try the latter after years of the former. I don't know if I'll stick with it yet.

    Nitro Beer vs Real Ale?

The Camra rules are not the be all an end all. Although they do a very good job. I push my low carbed Stouts on high pressure CO2 with very good results.

    My First Rant

Sounds like you could do with with being a little more drunk. I'm lucky it's 10 pm here so I am. :) Most people are here to learn about and talk about brewing. Some answer questions to give back. Some answer to learn, some answer to be heard. The social interaction is also a big draw. As for...

    Beer without hops?

The Current common meaning of beer is a drink that contains Barley, hops, yeast and water. If you make a beer type drink without hops then you may call it beer but it's not really. If it's the brewery I'm thinking of and you look at the label on the bottles you bought then It'd of had the...

help just finished first home brew

You'll need to ensure a good seal then add priming sugar and wait 2-4 weeks and or add CO2 You will need CO2 to serve after the first few pints. The problem with a lager kit is that you are not brewing like a real lager. You are brewing like an it's an Ale. Sorry to say but you have a poor...

    Beer without hops?

Try it. Some thoughts. 1. It won't be beer. 2. It won't be balanced. 3. It will lose some preservative properties. 4. If you like it cool. It's your beer. 5. Let us know how it goes and what you think of it.

Burner Height? And How fast do you boil?

You should boil fast enough to get the volume reduction you need in 60 minutes to coincide with maximum hop utilisation. 20 minutes to boil seems fine (Quite average)
