    240v 3 wire clarification

Thanks Isciavo, that's what I thought and I like the idea. I'm leaving propane behind and have built an indoor brew area with a workbench style setup. I'll keep grounds in mind as I finish the wiring. Hope to be test running in a couple weeks. From this To this

    240v 3 wire clarification

Yes, I'm using a brewers hardware RIMS with thier element adaptor. It has a grounding screw in the adaptor. And if I do the kettles like shown is various threads, I should be passing the ground from element to kettle through the gang box. Thanks, I think I have it now. Gonna go safe w a new...

    240v 3 wire clarification

From the panel chassis ground, the ground gets passed to elements, pumps and BCS. Do you run a separate ground wire to the kettles from the panel? I assume the RIMS needs to be grounded also? I have seen a lot of e brew setups, but not a lot with grounds attached to everything.

    240v 3 wire clarification

Ok, ill bring 4 wires from house panel to spa. Pass the ground through the box and secure to the chassis of the brewery panel? From the diagram, it looks like it terminates to the chassis panel.

Don't have a problem with that. Plenty of space in the breaker box. I just don't see where the ground from the house box is used in the above schematic.

    240v 3 wire clarification

Or is 4 wire even needed with the control panel design. See below. http://www.ebrewsupply.com/designs/30a-BCS-2-Electric.pdf Another option: I have a 50 a 240 3 wire plug in the garage about 10 feet away for my welder that I could use. Never plan to weld and brew at the same time. I could...

    240v 3 wire clarification

Alright. I'm finishing up my planning and purchasing phase of the the new ebrewery. I have a ebrewingsupply box coming, BCS control and a few other goodies. It will be a RIMS setup using 2 keggles. My question is I'm adding another circuit to the house box and running to a GFI spa disconnect...

BG-14 Burner Problems with Half Tank--and propane questions

I too have this problem. I run twin BG-14 and will get freeze up under 1/2 tank. The rubbermaid tote works great and so does a larger propane tank. I'm in winter project mode and going electric. The BG-14s would suck down 3/4 of a bottle for a AG brew with 90 minute boil. That's like $15 worth...

    Correct Spa Disconnect

I agree. I think ill add this beside my control panel. I could also add a plug into this box like this thread https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f170/spa-panel-wiring-dummies-266751/ The four wires coming out will match perfect gong into the box. I will change the plugs used in above thread to...

    Correct Spa Disconnect

Can you not add a GFI to the house breaker bar and run from that to your control box?

    Correct Spa Disconnect

The more I think about it, I can just put the breaker in the house box and not need another box. My control box will have an emergency switch to kill power.

    Correct Spa Disconnect

I was planning to bring over the 50 amp service to the control box and use it to power : 1) 110v 2000w for the RIMS 1) 220v 5500w for the BK 2) 110v outlets for PUMPS 1) BCS controller I don't every see myself running both elements at a time, but I want the option to start another batch...

    Correct Spa Disconnect

Looking to add this to my garage to supply the power to my electric brewing setup. I will have it mounted beside the house circuit box and then hard wire to my control panel. Or would I be better off just adding the 50amp GFI breaker to my house circuit box and wire from there...

    RIMS troubleshooting

Do you have a ball valve on the output of the pump to control the flow. You may be "sucking" from the mash tun and need to slow down to match the normal gravity flow.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Ended up doing Cascade at 60 and 30 min. Then .5 oz galaxy at 15 and .5 oz at flameout. Smelled wonderful. The BRY-97 hit this off in 12 hours and is raging fully. Going to let it roll 14 days @ 64 degrees then crash and keg.
