Found a few deals on amazon

This OXO scale is the one Cooks Illustrated recently ranked #1. I have their old #1 choice, which has worked quite well (though no pull-out display): Amazon.com: Soehnle Digital Kitchen Scale, Silver: Home & Garden It's still the same price, over a year after I bought it!

    3 gallon cornys 49.95

Thanks everyone, you all cost me another $109 bucks (I have to pay CA sales tax) for more beer gear. This is an attempt to force myself into kegging, or at least have the option to keg. Now...what else do I need?? Is it on sale too?? :o Seems I just learned how to use a capper yesterday...

    it's friday man!

Ah, brewday--I really should get around to having one myself! I'm curious about your aerator, what is it & how does it work? Is that a port I see in the pic that you connect an O2 tank to?

Results of my first in-bottle pasteurization experiment!

Awesome!! :rockin: Especially that part about removing the emergency relief valve...err...but no, seriously, this sounds dangerous. I'm no authority, but my guess is that in the commercial world pasteurization has nothing to do with glass bottles. Maybe try pasteurizing before fermentation and...

    Hop Stoopid! Anyone had it?

:off: Is this why today they're out of both Green Flash West Coast IPA and SN Bigfoot?!? Ok, since I'm letting cats out of bags, you might oughta check out another great liquor store, The Liq (1111 macarthur blvd. san leandro - Google Maps). The new owner, Glen, is keen on bringing in high...

    Hopping beer in the glass

Thanks BierMuncher, 'size' and SmugMug. I'm not actually a hero or pioneer, nor do I have extraordinarily (mis?)calibrated taste buds, but I do likes me some hops! :) So I'll likely keep trying these various ways of getting more hops into beer--kind of like a poor man's hopback, really. My next...

    Hopping beer in the glass

I vaguely recall reading that some people toss a few pellet hops in their glass of beer for a little extra hop kick. I think it was pellets, which I suppose are more appropriate than whole hops for this application. I'm trying it for the first time now: not wanting to be subtle about it, I...

American IPA Bell's Two Hearted Ale Clone (close as they come)

heh, nice label for your "Hoof Hearted IPA" there, DubbelDach. Strange, but pretty funny. Guess one has to have kids to understand fully... :D Haven't seen Two Hearted beers around these parts, so I'll have to attempt this clone. For those who've had it, is it kinda similar to Stone's...

Dumping old Star San on the lawn?

Hmmm. I took chemistry twice in college, so I'm not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer--but will neutralizing the pH also somehow take the abundant phosphorous out of solution? By neutralizing I wouldn't be burning the plants?? I'm thinking about Jon's advice to dilute by...

Dumping old Star San on the lawn?

Well it took 8 days to get a reply from Five Star Chemicals, but here it is: So there it is. 10-100 times dillution of used Star San, in order to make it usable for plants. Indeed, a fertilizer high in phosphorous is often indicated for blooming plants ("to increase root development, make...

I'm trying to find a beer for an extreme hop head! ME!

Nah, I don't think I had a bad one. Also it literally wasn't bad. Just didn't quite suit me. That said, because of this thread, I will buy it next time I see it just to give it another chance. This from the Deschutes site, about Hop Henge: I guess the thing I was finding some displeasure...

Hooking up my variable propane regulator

Where'd you buy it? I can't answer your original question, but I am curious about adjustable regulators. Actually, my real intent is to be able to lower the flow to my BBQ, as it's lowest setting is still too hot for me. (I prefer to just lightly char myself :rockin:)

    Hop Stoopid! Anyone had it?

Well I had to buy one last night, and I re-read the story on the label. I guess the first time I read it I didn't know how much credence to put in it, or that it was related to the Hop Stoopid. It all makes sense now. BTW, DeathBrewer, I live in San Leandro. About 5 minutes away from here...

Good god men, I pay $4.49 and I'm about 1000 miles closer to the brewery than you guys! BTW, Howdy DeathBrewer! :) Please don't kill me.

    Beersmith Muddle

I'm on day 6 of the Beersmith trial. I actually had a similar issue as Champurrado. I have a 15-gallon brew kettle, and I'm (currently) an extract brewer. So the program's pre-programmed database of gear didn't fit me. Sure I can create a new "Brew Pot", but the fields for mash tun and...

    Hop Stoopid! Anyone had it?

Oh yeah, I'm cuckoo for Hop Stoopid, whenever I'm feeling spendy & want to buy 22 oz. bottles instead of (relatively less expensive) 6-packs. [It's not available in 6-packs...only in 22 oz. bottles] It's awesome. Excellent aroma. Though sometimes strikes me as "sweet". Not overly--just 'is...
