Getting 15-gal kegs into chest freezers

Another thing I should have mentioned: the solution shouldn't involve rolling the keg, as want to minimize any sediment disturbance. Next on the wishlist would be a solution that could also lift 6-1/2 gallon glass carboys. Perhaps a little tricky to attach to a hoist, without some kind of...

Getting 15-gal kegs into chest freezers

Ooh, I like the electric one. Then I could just roll the keezer underneath and let the keg down into it. It'd be about $110 for shipping + tax to get it to me (the 440 lb. electric hoist). Now to figure out the cheapest solution not prone to failure. Possibly even the hand levered hoist, though...

Getting 15-gal kegs into chest freezers

You mean like wearing my LifeAlert necklace: "Help, I've been hit by a big can of beer and I can't get up!" (how many times I've said that...)

Getting 15-gal kegs into chest freezers

Any thoughts on the best way to lift heavy kegs (~160 lbs.) into a chest freezer style keezer? Or horror stories? I'm stressing about it and I haven't even put a collar on it yet--and am thinking about either 6" or 8". Yikes!

swapping quick disconnects on kegs under pressure

Could someone help me outline some fool proof rules for proper swapping of disconnects of pressurized kegs that will result in no spraying of beer, leaking of gas, or gas/beer ending up in the wrong line? Here's what I understand so far, assuming QDs will already be outfitted with hose lines...

    Curse you all!

Are you one of those people who buys all the stuff for the current hot project...then lets it sit around for a long while, to get a whole lot of procrastinating accomplished. Actually, that's pretty much what I do. If it weren't for shopping on the internet I wouldn't be getting anything done...

swapping quick disconnects on kegs under pressure

Thanks for the great advice everyone. So I tried it again to install my new quick disconnects (QD's) onto a new (to me) keg that arrived already under pressure. It takes a bit of force, and as marzsit pointed out you have to pull up on the spring-loaded collar of the QD. Then, as predicted...

    Getting started w/ kegging?

I'm just gonna weigh in here, senior members please feel free to smack me down if I'm silly: though it seems a majority of newbie keg'ers go with some fridge + tower setup, I think it's better to go with a chest freezer + collar + taps setup. For the following reasons: 1) Issues with foamy...

swapping quick disconnects on kegs under pressure

Newbie question alert!! OK, soon I'll be making the big step to kegging and have a question that I've not seen discussed: Is it possible to dis/connect the gas/beer quick disconnects when ball lock corny kegs are under pressure? My kegs arrived from the vendor with pressure, and it seems I...

Yeah Schweaty, that looks like Rick500's black 7.2 cu ft freezer from Lowes. Mine is being delivered tomorrow ($225 delivered, after 10% coupon and California's nearly 10% sales tax). I'm planning to get a larger CO2 tank and pipe it in too. Question: You guys run these with the freezer...

Just finishinh a Duvel here. Bought it just to break up the endless flood of IPAs. I think I'll rather stick to Delirium Tremens than Duvel though, in the future. My taste buds are still immature. :D Update: mixed the last couple ounces of Duvel with the same amount of Sierra Nevada Torpedo...

What's your occupation: Engineer or Non-Engineer

For eight years I was the guy who 'put the can on the shelf' and asked 'would you like paper or plastic?' I'm talking, of course of my career at a chain drug store. For the last three years or so of this job I worked a lot of part time while I (finally) finished college, getting a degree in...

Is all grain really THIS easy?

An interesting practice. I guess you've already heard of so called "small beer", which, according to Anchor Brewing Co. has been around for thousands of years: Anchor Steam - Anchor Small Beer Maybe the trick is to start with something fairly strong (e.g. barleywine). My recollection of...

    Corney post removal problems

+1 truthfully, I was totally in favor of the vise method until I read this. Using leverage against something produces a ridiculously large amount of force--as long as you got the room to work & a strong lever. I'd use the vise method if it were handy or I hadn't a lever though.
