    AHS Raspbery Porter Kit

Well, I just finished brewing it up. I decided to forget about the chocolate in the boil. Maybe I'll add some small amount of cocoa to the secondary with the raspberry extract. Thanks for the opinions, guys.

    AHS Raspbery Porter Kit

I actually haven't yet had any beers with actual chocolate in it, but the chocolate raspberry combo sounds too goo to resist.

    AHS Raspbery Porter Kit

Anyone try adding chocolate to this kit? I've been searching through posts and it seems like a couple guys tried it, but they never posted any of their results. I have ordered the kit and I'm wondering if I should go the normal route and follow the instructions or try something cool.

Looking for a good Extract Porter recipe...

I’ve only done one brew before but now that supplies are dwindling, batch 2 is on my mind. I want to do a relatively light sweet porter. Chocolate/Coffee/Vanilla flavors would be welcome. Any advice on resources for formulating a grain bill? Hops/yeast recommendations? A recipe that you like...

Well, I think something went wrong...

Drinking another one tonight. Seems that another week in the bottles did it some good. Damn, this feels awesome to drink beer that I made. Thanks for the input.

Well, I think something went wrong...

Sorry I haven't gotten back in a couple days and thanks to all that have responded! Here's some answers to help clarify the situation. I did boil the priming sugar in water before adding it to the bottling bucket. I added one vial of White Labs California Ale yeast, supplied with the kit that...

Well, I think something went wrong...

Well, I have had an amber ale in bottles for about 4 weeks. I did make sure to add the priming sugar to the beer (bottling bucket) immediately before bottling. I pretty much just added it directly to the bottling bucket and the it went right into bottles. I capped it with a hand capper and...

    Low Starting Gravity

I just realized that I took the reading completely wrong. My OG was actually about 1.370 since I took the reading of just the concentrated wort!:tank: I suppose it would have helped to take the reading once the fresh water was added to the partial boil:cross:

    Marking measurements on your carboy

Gee, I have no idea why I didn't think of that :tank: Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Looks like pouring meausred amounts is my best bet.

    Marking measurements on your carboy

Has anyone made markings on their 6.5 gallon carboy to mark approximate volume measurement? This would make it a lot easier to make sure you're topping off partial boils with the right amount of fresh water. If anyone has, can you please share your method for calculating the right spot on the...

    Low Starting Gravity

I did the Austin Homebrew Shiop's recipe for the Fat Tire clone. I tried the mini-mash option that they offer which gives you about half of your grain bill in mashed grain and the other half in extract. There were I think 2lbs of Pale LME and 3 lbs of Extra Pale LME to go along with the mashed...

    Low Starting Gravity

I just did my first brew this weekend (a Fat Tire clone). Everything went beautifully until the end when I took my specific gravity and I got a corrected reading of 1.041. The kit said that I should get a reading of 1.050. Is this too far off from the suggested reading? Fermentation took a...

Thinking about brewing AHS's Rogue Double IPA... but

Equipment arrived today along with Fat Tire mini-mash. This looks like it's going to be a lot of fun:ban:

Thinking about brewing AHS's Rogue Double IPA... but

Well I called AHS and the guy I talked to strongly reccomended not trying the I2PA as my first brew. I went with their Fat Tire clone instead.

Thinking about brewing AHS's Rogue Double IPA... but

This will be my first batch of homebrew. Does anyone have any experience with this kit? Is it difficult to follow/does it take a long time to brew? I really like Rogue's stuff and I bought a bottle of this off the shelf to compare with. Also, does anyone have any experience with their...

    Starting Up...

Thanks for the responses, guys! Is it possible that it would be cheaper for me to go out and buy all of the components seperately?

    Starting Up...

Ok, so I'm in the middle of reading Papazian's book and I've been itching to get started with this. I'm thinking about what equipment to buy, and I was wondering what else I might need if I get this kit from AHS. * 6.5 Gallon Glass Primary Fermenter * 5 Gallon Glass Carboy *...

    Hey from NJ!

Sounds good to me. Hoepfully by then I'll have something that is drinkable! Thanks for the ref. I'll PM him and see if I can pick his brain a little.

    Hey from NJ!

Trenton State changed its name to The College of New Jersey in 1996. It angered a lot of alumni and made even more people confused as to why they included "The" in the acronym.
