Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Ya if a conductor has been broken or damaged due to bending - which seems likely, knotting is pretty extreme - bending back may provide temporary connection, but can not undo the damage... leading to the intermittent issues you describe. Changes in temperature can affect flexibility of cable as...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Ultimately this sounds like a hardware issue. Are you running your probes through a door/door gasket of a fermentation chamber by chance? I have seen these cheap probes have issues like you describe under light crimping. I've also seen this come up for those use CAT5/6 cable for their probes...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

I've been experiencing similar. I figured it was just an issue with esp8266 tiny antenna and the fact I use a steel enclosure for my controller. I ordered a cheap antenna from aliexpress (hasn't arrived yet) that I figured would fix.

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

I've put together my own PCB design. Similar to Thorrak's. It's currently untested. It has logic level converters for I2C, and also a couple NPN transistors to allow for 5v outputs. I omit the door switch, buzzer, etc. Let me know if you find any errors with it if you get to them before I do. :)...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

New user question: I'd like to set the cycle length for my heater to be much less than what it currently is. I'm using a heating belt with an SSR, so there wouldn't be an issue if the cycles were 10 seconds long or so. I don't see such a setting explicitly anywhere in device constants however...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Hi. I seem to have everything working with my build except my LED display, which just shows two lines of blocks when my controller is powered on. I'm using a PCB from @Bigdaddyale, who has been trying to help me today with this. The attached images are not helpful to troubleshooting this (except...

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

Yes I'd take a handful if it's cheaper than getting some done in Canada.

    Robobrew in Canada?

I'm quite sure OBK is bringing in Robobrew, but the regulatory process is lengthy.

    2 x 5500 watt ripple elements in 1 kettle

Maybe to keep things simple, stack them vertically? Make sure to use a float switch. Most seem to offset their elements by 45 degrees though, as you said. If those are 20 gallon kettles, one would be sufficient. Not a bad idea if these are 30 gallon kettles to use both though if you have the...

Anyone here have experience with this kind of direct mount pressure transducer?

I just bought a pressure transmitter through aliexpress, and 0-6kpa was the most appropriate range for me (roughly 24 inwc). Many of the pressure transmitters meant for higher temp applications will have a heatsink/heat fins of some kind I've noticed. I'm surprised this one, just by looking at...

    K-RIMS build question

It may interest you, here's what my k-rims (2 pump) looks like after about a year using it. http://onbrewing.com/2017-brewery-update/ I unconventionally do not use an auto-sparge (probably not advisable). I do use two diaphragm valves to fine tune flow rates from the pumps. I use one 5500watt...

    PLC/SCADA Controlled Brewing System

This thread is a couple months old, but I haven't seen many people using a VFD with chugger/march pumps before, and I must know more! How has your experience using VFD for these pumps been? Would you recommend it? I would like to use PID for my pumps as well, otherwise I would continue to rely...

CIP Tank Rotary SS cleaning Ball for sanke keg cleaner

Here's mine: I use a 12" SS nipple between the submersible pump and the spray ball (I've since replaced the one piece of brass with SS)

“Floating” 3 Keggle + HEX BCS462 eHERMs Build

Looks great! What are you using for the float switch in your BK? How do you find it in terms of cleaning and all of that?

    Two vessel HERMS system idea

Kind of a mash up of BRUTUS-20, and Counterflow-HERMS. I think it'd work well for you. I currently use a Kettle-RIMS design, and I have been considering modifying my current brewery to switch to essentially the same design as this. My previous brewery was counterflow-HERMS and that worked...

    NEW StrangeBrew Elsinore Thread

Typically I and D values aren't really necessary for home brewing applications because we don't have much lag in our monitoring systems... we heat water, we have a temp probe in that water, you know. I just use a P value and it is more than sufficient! I use SBE for fermentation control and...

    NEW StrangeBrew Elsinore Thread

I didn't crimp in the temp probe wires directly into the plugs, actually. I made my probes without a crimping tool. I bought some very cheap 3ft ethernet cords and cut them into 2... and soldered each half up with the temp probe wires. I actually own a crimping tool now (didn't at the time), and...

    NEW StrangeBrew Elsinore Thread

You can not use PT100s with strangebrew elsinore, 1wire temp probes only. People build panels to suit their needs, there isn't a specific build or plan that goes along with strangebrew elsinore. My build for instance is for a 3 vessel HERMS with 2 pumps, heating and cooling for a fermentation...

    NEW StrangeBrew Elsinore Thread

Awesome! You've combined some of the tactical controls and displays of the electric brewery style panels with SBE, looks like a lot of work, great job. I put a link to your post over on www.reddit.com/r/strangebrew because I know folks over there will be interested in this!
