I have been very happy with my Fluance Rt-85. It is about $500 and it is one of the better ones, based on my research when I was shopping for one, before you really start to spend $$$ for smaller and smaller returns.

With a good cartridge and clean record, it is better than CD. I have an Ortofon Blue on my turntable and have been very pleased with it.

Aging is your friend. My last mead that is drinkable took about 2 years to really shine. I have another batch that is a year in and is tasty but will be better next year.
