Brewing over 10years and my answer would probably change with the seasons. Right now, I'm looking forward to brewing a Cali Common, but someone's post above makes me want an Alt too.

Aiming for a compact RIMS solution for 240v Brew Commander controller. I'll probably not go with a rims rocket (weird plug location and no thermowell). Likely to be used for big brews and10g brews where the mash tun is needed. A 12" tube is too short, that leaves a 16 or 18 TC tube setup...

I think that is what the Rims protect does on my Brew Commander although I've never used it.

Ok I see. Temp probe has to be located at the exit of the rims so that doesn't occur. It cannot be put in the mash tun or at the entry to rims.

That sounds similar to the guy sitting next to me at a bars point. So if one were in space, no atmosphere, could they not see the sun or just not the radiation emitted from the sun?

I think I'm downsizing from a 3v herms to a 1v biab/2v with a rims. Unloading a 15g mash tun and 8g herms. I'd have some options with the rims.

My process: spray solids out of the kettle. quick scrub with pbw/water, spray rinse. fill with about 3.5g of water. Heat to a boil. run it through the pump and plate chiller to flush them out. No issues for me.
