    Looking for hopslam recipe.....

What yeast would be used for this? In that link the person doesn't list the yeast used and has anyone tested this as an extract? The AG I believe has 10.5 oz of hops while the Extract lists about 8? Would like to get this as close as possible to the original.

    Note To Self: !

This is true. I use to have a keg of miller lite always on tap for guests. Now I am using the keg fridge to cold crash. Now I just need to convert it to hold corny's.

    Airlock Fell Off

I had a Amber Beer I brewed where my daughter took the airlock off for 6 to 30 hours (not sure on the total time). Brewed another batch the next week same ingredients and everyone liked the first one better.

    Your Favorite Kits

I broke out my Flat Tire clone and put it next to the Fat Tire and had guests at a party taste test it. Mine was a little darker, but all the guests thought mine was the Fat Tire due to it having more flavor. I received this kit again at Christmas from my wife and just bottled it last week...

    fermenting

Stick with the month. Much of the advice here and on the instructions you would be wise to follow. It's amazing the quality of the product you will get if you let it ferment for that full month and the clarity that you can get from the beer.

    HBS in Chicago

On the few times I have been passing Savoy, I have stopped at Friar Tucks. Their supplies are erattic, but they usually have great prices on kits. I've picked up some of their Brewers Best IPA kits for $27, it's not $32 and the Brewers Best Scotch ale kit for $22 from there. Best part is they...

    Input Needed: Wedding Brewing Recommendations

Midwest Brewing has quite a few IPA's. Depending on the alcohol content your looking for in your beer. Hop Head has a good 6oz of hops in it and there is also another regional beer recipe they carry Ferocious. I would brew the IPA's first so they can bottle condition longer.

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

Made my first batch last night. Slight variation on Ed's but looks good. 11212 + 5 = 11217

Yep checked it a couple times. Below is what I ordered. The hops are a little different from what was sent to me this week, but thats the kit and the instructions say 6 oz hops. Yay for 2 free oz of hops. American India Pale Ale (IPA) - Extract | MoreBeer

    IPA Kit

I received my IPA kit from MoreBeer today and found something interesting in the package. It was to have 2 oz of Glacier for 60 minute boil, 2 oz Glacier for 10 minutes flavoring and 2 oz cascade for the 1 minute aroma. However my kit contains an extra 2oz Glacier. Would these be any good...

Do you put dates on your bottles/caps?

I use the batch number as well and then look at my notes on when it was bottled. I also take a 6 or 12 pack worth of some brews and put them on a shelf so I forget about them. Found some of my batch 5 the other day and I just finished brewing batch 21. Can't wait to drink those.

I've found it..I've found the Holy Grail!

The 120 I found to be decent, but not a beer I always want to have in stock. Special occasions and such yes. The Pliny beer that was mentioned I haven't found a place in IL to buy that and would love to get my hands on it. Similar to Old Chub, I have had it before when on a business trip, but...

LHBS - Oak Lawn IL Area

I am looking for a LHBS thats in the Oaklawn, Burbank, Palos Area. I know that Two Brothers has one in their brewpub in Warrenville, but I'm looking for something that isn't a 40+ min drive. If anyone knows of any I would appreciate it as they all seem to be up North in IL.

in primary since october 5th 08

I have a stout that has been in my Secondary Carboy since August 5th, 2008. When I bought the kit from Midwest, they even had in the instructions that it's best to leave it in a secondary for up to a year.
