    I'm Thinking... 09/09/09 Barleywine

I just tasted mine. Quite nice, but definitely needs another 4-6 months. Mine is getting dry hopped and an oak infusion spiral. I'm thinking Chinook for the DH. KD

American Pale Ale Lake Walk Pale Ale

If you are using biscuit or Victory, you might want to adjust down the quantity. The home toast does not produce the intensity of those malts form my experience. I prefer toasting my own. I would dry hop at the tail end for one week if it were my batch. I have actually been reducing my DH...

    Brewing Gloves

Sounds like a darn good deal. I wonder if hot wort would soak through and melt my skin though.

    Brewing Gloves

Yes, that was the idea behind this post. I was wondering if anyone uses a good, heat proof, waterproof glove that could handle hose changes and the inevitable splash of hot liquid. Soaking a cowhide glove is worse than not using anything at all! I saw soem three finger silicone jobs that look...

    Blichmann Boilermaker Reviews

From Blichmann "We did increase the mesh size a bit awhile ago, but it didn’t change the performance with pellet hops. I don’t recall any “leaflet’s”, but we did add a note to the package that we only recommend it for 10/15/20 gal pots due to plugging issues with the larger pots. We are...

    Brewing Gloves

This sounds interesting. I will check them out. Oven mitts are very dangerous in wet environments. If you soak one of those with boiling water, you are toast. Don't ask.....

Hey, any body have a good glove suggestion for handling hot QD's and potential splashes of hot liquid? Thanks KD

I do have the old screen. Interesting information; I think I will drop John a line and get the new screen for the heck of it. KD

Yes, I do use it and use whole hops or a combination. What chilling method do you use?

    hopstopper users...

Yes, Dennis is very helpful. You don't really need to put the collar on the tube though. The seal is by o-ring in the fitting; the collar is so you don't push to far and line up properly. As long as you can close your ball valve, you are fine. Still, it's no big deal to put it on either...

No, a dip tube was fabricated that extends to the centerof the kettle. That won't work for this product. I don't think this will work for you with an element running the way you mention. You are probably ging to have to use a hop bag setup. I have seen some screens that run the...

    I'm Thinking... 09/09/09 Barleywine

I like it a little higher myself. I just had a sixer of Bigfoot and it seems carbed close to the 2 1/2 range. I'll probably shoot for 2.3-2.4. I ordered some oak spirals for this beer. Havent' tasted it in a while. I hope it's doing ok. I thgought I had an infection last time I checked but...

Gas Burners with Love TS and Pilot Light Demo

Mine are combination valves for spark ignition that I got for free scrapped from furnaces. Here is a link to my gas system. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/spark-ignition-brutus-67922/

Actually, I think you had it right with the Dual valves. You can get standing pilot dual's for peanuts. Unlike many of the solenoids people are using, they are MADE for gas burners. I have Honeywell valves on my system. KD

    23 Tip Jet Burner problems

Longshot; make sure you don't have any pipe dope blocking your jets from when you sealed. I had this happen with a couple of jets I sealed. I assume this is not the case since you are getting flame from hp regulator, but 3" flame seems very low to me regardless. I get about a two foot flame...

    23 Tip Jet Burner problems

Josh You should try this; Claudius is right. Take the cap off where you installed the spring and screw and play with some settings of the screw. I should have thought of this as I had to make some adjustments from the 11 turns. KD Edit: Oh wait; this was ont he burner without valves...

You are using low pressure propane; right? Your pilot light will need an LP orifice.

American Pale Ale Lake Walk Pale Ale

I'm definitely not there yet Dude. I have whole Simcoe this year and it is superb. For whatever it's worth, I am only doing 5-6 days dry hop now after a couple of grassy events with lighter ales. I think after the first pint, the dry hop addition is minimized, but in a competitive tasting...
