    That book is way old, and the quality of extracts is way better now. Having said that you should look into other flaws in your process (ie boil time ect). That or get your kit from a more reputable source. For me, I look at process over ingredient quality for problems any day. Good luck

    Immersion is usually not fast enough. Invest in a counter flow, it's a next level brewing maneuver. I made my own. The faster the better for the cold break. Your beer and your friends will thank you.

    I made a 3/8 inch copper loop with a soldered brass t fitting. I drilled a thousand little holes in it. Never had a problem.

    It depends on the type of flavor you want from the bean. Some will tell you to add in the boil or flame out, but when I add fruit and whole spices I put in secondary. Take a cup of beer from primary and bring to a boil. Cut the vanilla beans down the middle and throw them into the cup of beer...

    When to add honey to this recipe and a couple other questions

    If you want the flavor of the honey put it in on the secondary. Take a cup of beer out when you transfer and add that to the honey in a pan. Cook for about 15 min. Works perfect!
