Making a fermentation chamber out of kitchen cabinet

Ah. I built mine from scratch from 2x4's, 1/8" plywood walls, and a piece of 3/4" plywood for the top. If your door opening won't fit a carboy (with or without an airlock?), then it may be better to make it top-opening so you don't have to tip your carboys over. I will try to post some...

Making a fermentation chamber out of kitchen cabinet

I am currently building a fermentation cabinet from scratch, and using the guts of a mini-fridge for the cooling portion. I am using an STC-1000 controller, and will either be taping the temp probe to the side of a carboy, or purchasing/making a thermowell to put down inside of the most recent...

    College Keezer Build

Agreed, much nicer looking than I was expecting when I clicked. Really cool idea to use the wireless speakers as well.

Yet another 3 tier rig--dialup warning large pix

If you don't mind spending a little money, you should look into cutting out the cooler liner and putting a SS pot inside. Its been done a few times on here, and you get the benefit of both SS and the cooler that way. Awesome brewstand. Maybe once I've got the money to build one I'll copy this...

Unveiling my brewery & garage build

What's with the electrical outlets positioned at the top of the walls above the window? Never seen the put up that high before... Otherwise, looking good! I dislike white as well, so I would probably go with a very light tan or cream color, just so it wasn't white.

    220v outlet in the garage...

I haven't actually done anything in regards to this. I broke down and ordered a convertible propane/natural gas burner this week, should be here sometime next week, hopefully. I would still like to run electric in the future, but for now its cheaper to go propane/natural gas.

    Starting my electric build

Cool, thanks. I've got a 1/2 HP 1725 rpm motor (for free), but I don't like the idea of spending almost $100 buying pulleys, a belt, and all the couplings I would need. I guess I'll just plan on using the drill method for now...

Making a fermentation chamber out of kitchen cabinet

In that case, if you can find a minifridge cheap, I'd go with that. If you can, find one with the condenser coils mounted on the back, rather than in the walls of the fridge. It will make removing them and mounting it on the side/back of the cabinet MUCH easier. I can usually find the right kind...

    Irony in advertising

They've been playing this commercial daily here in Louisville. While I do get a good laugh out of it, its annoying as hell that they're perpetuating a stereotype that is probably only a little bit true (other than the beard thing. I have a beard. Its a requirement!).

Keezer Build - Walnut and Anigre

Holy hellfire! That may take the cake as the most beautiful keezer on HBT (at least that I've seen so far). I bow down to your woodworking skills my man. You should post some pictures of other furniture that you've built, since you said this piece needed to fit in with the rest...

Making a fermentation chamber out of kitchen cabinet

yes it would be that easy. Whichever you can find cheaper, and think would be easier to use. The window unit would probably be a little bit of overkill on that, but a mini-fridge might struggle with the size. Will this be kept in an air-conditioned space inside the house, or out in a...

    Starting my electric build

Do you have a build thread for your motorized corona mill? What kind of motor is that (HP, RPM, etc)? Did you just attach it straight to the mill without any kind of RPM reducer? Also love the idea of the ss pot inside the cooler. Gonna have to bookmark this thread for when I upgrade in the...

    Collared Keezer List

The top is not necessary if you insulate the wood sufficiently. Instead of building just a collar, you'd build a collar with a top attached and then insulate it well. Then you could drill through it for a tower very easily. It has been done and shown (on here) before.

    beer water filtration

No problem Aschecte. I actually use the Campden tablets myself, as my water is treated with Chloramines. But the OP originally asked about a chloramine filter, and I was just making sure he was aware that they were available, if slightly more expensive than regular Chlorine filters. He may...

    beer water filtration

Actually there are filters that will remove chloramine, but they are more expensive than chlorine filters. Here is a great website for water filters. Its very popular in the fishkeeping hobby. http://www.thefilterguys.biz/chloramine_filters.htm

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

here's one listing. I got mine from someone else, but that listing has expired. Search Discount Tommy on Ebay or Amazon, as he usually has good prices on them. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0038NPJVG/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 There are also several links earlier in this thread.

    Budget Bar Build

I think the wood department guys hate me at my local Lowes/Home Depot. I tear apart piles looking for the best/truest boards with the nicest grain I can find. I had a pallet of 1/8" birch plywood half unstacked looking for 2 matching pieces for a cabinet I was building...
