    Some kind of pumpkin ale

I made a pretty good pumpkin ale a couple months ago. Just finished bottle conditioning. Tried it Tuesday. Came out pretty well. Couple minor tweaks and i think it'll be great. Bake the pumpkin in the oven until it is carmelized (30-60 mins). Put in a large nylon bag before you boil it for...

Where to drill a Kenmore 8.8 for thermocouple?

From everything I have read, the short answer is don't drill in the walls or floor. Bad news. Is it worth risking trashing a new freezer?

    Keezer air manifold advice

Thanks. I like the 4/2 setup idea. I wish i could afford a 6 regulator bank, but that adds up REALLY quick. Trying to stay below $1000 is tricky!! I appreciate the advice

    Keezer air manifold advice

Going to start my kenmore 8.8 keezer soon. Going to have 4 kegs in it. I have heard wanting an extra gas line for one reason or another. Trying to decide if i want a double regulator and two 2-port manifolds or a 3-port and a 2-port manifold. The keezer can hold 6 kegs (eventually). Do i want...

Well, I WAS going to make a 75 min IPA

I wonder what kind of flavor priming with maple syrup adds. I know priming with honey adds negligible taste. I primed with dextrose and it turned out great. My keezer should be complete by the time i make this again...

Well, I WAS going to make a 75 min IPA

This beer ended up really good. Hops are definitely the star player, but definitely a solid malty flavor there too. I will definitely cut a lb out of the amber and crystal malts. Next time. Great color, great flavor. It's all in all a very good beer. I really love the flavor of a continuous hop...

    Help with head retention?

Decoction mashing tends to help beer maintain head. Of course it changes your beer quite a bit. Darkens it, for one. I have heard inadequate cleaning and sanitation can destroy head. Are you bottle conditioning?

The one i am looking at has a switch on the back too. I will need to extend the wires. Btw, I went to Sears and the increased the price back to $330. Back to waiting. I may end up waiting til black friday. Are there sales on kegging stuff during black Friday?

    Is $297 a good price for a kenmore 8.8?

Thanks for all the responses. I have looked for craigslist freezers, but decided to go new. This project is a treat for me. Plus I rarely found black freezers in decent shape. This guarantees a good start to a long overdue project. Found out the special price is only for this weekend. Going to...

Well, I WAS going to make a 75 min IPA

14 days in: As expected, FG ended at 1.020. No big deal really. It tastes pretty good and I am technically still in IIPA territory at roughly 8.3% ABV. I am pretty happy with that. Racked to a secondary and added 1 oz centennial and 1/2 oz cascade dry hops. 6 gallons of finished beer. Really...

Well, I WAS going to make a 75 min IPA

Thanks a lot guys. I actually have never had the 75 min. Read it is basically 60 min and 90 min mixed together (literally) and thought, I bet I can do better than that. And then the hops happened. Oh well. I thought the extra amber/crystal would affect FG. That is why I mashed at 148F. Hoping...

Well, I WAS going to make a 75 min IPA

P.S. I know decoction isn't necessary for this style. I jsut wanted to give it a try. A lot of time and work...we'll see the pay off. Fingers crossed!!

Well, I WAS going to make a 75 min IPA

Hey everyone. Been lurking in the shadows for like 2 years. I try not to post if I can find the answers...luckily I have found most. Just looking for some input/opinions on a beer I brewed a couple days ago. I WAS going to brew what I was gonna call a 75 min IPA. Basically combine the idea of...
