    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

Well thats good news. That means you have alot of room in your kettle. Just to make this simple I would add some 6 row (which has some more enzymes) or simply cut your pale malt extract in half. If your using canned extract and add either 2nd row or 6 row malt to your steep. Then do your...

    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

Drumming, The problem that I see right off the bat is you have flaked barley in that recipe with no 2nd row, or 6th row, to convert the starches to sugar. Your so close to AG in the recipe as it stands its kind of funny. You might add Dextrine to the recipe instead of the flaked barley that...

    Flash boiler project #2

I currently use a high temperature crab cooker cooker that produces a serious 200,000 btu/hr heat output through a 20 nozzle brass jet cast iron burner. The burner is located 15 inches below the cooking surface to take advantage of where the heat is greatest and all gasses have been...

    Propane burner help

I have a high pressure burner that works great but uses about $1 per gallon of propane per finish boil. http://www.tejassmokers.com/newproducts_page4.htm

    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

Norcal, What was your starting gravity?? That does seem quite high for an ending gravity. In the future if this happens you might try adding some Amylase enzyme. It will break down in additional starches you missed and get you back on track. Additionally start doing an Iodine test to help...

Weissbier 1st Place HBT Comp Category 15A

I'm curious about the use of rice hulls when there is no flake used...what is the significance of using them?

    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

Interesting.... I have a friend who loves coffee flavor in his beer. I'll have to vault that info for later use. It's interesting how different processes can be done to arrive at an extremely similar flavor with slightly different suttle notes and complex flavors that each brewer can call...

    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

I started with the recipie and my taste buds told me there was to much roasted or burnt flavor when comparing this to "Guiness Draught". It was more almost a "Guiness extra-Stout" but not quite. After doing extensive all be it online research on any and all articles and including their...

    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

Funny you say that.... I use really low and long mash temps to thin and lighten the brew, coupled with de-bittered chocolate, and carafa to get the color and chocolate flavor just right. This brings the flavor much more close to Guiness in my opinion... I also push with nitro and co2 in a beer...

    My New Fermentation Cabinets

Wow... that seems like a better solution. You retain the stock and the love features without having to rewire if you go back to the freezer being just a freezer... I know I can shut mine down or off... but still haven't checked on the manual defrost feature yet.. This is getting interesting...

    My New Fermentation Cabinets

Not exactly on the wiring. Hot (black) on pin 7. Common (white) to pin 8. Jump hot (black) from pin 7 to com pin 10. NC output is not used. the compressor hot becomes pin 11 NO out put (yellow). I cut the yellow and tied it directly into the love, making sure to electrical tape the yellow end...

    My New Fermentation Cabinets

Refry, One more thing, by doing the wiring in the door you can run the Love controller while you have the stock controller turned off. Although this elliminates the defrost feature on the stock pannel, it also eliminates the warm alarm. You can then take advantage of the Love controller's...

    My New Fermentation Cabinets

I did tie into all the wiring just like you said. Black hot, white common, Yellow to compressor. I was going to do that exact thing your thinking about and tie into the wiring at the bottom hinge where the wiring comes into the door, and this is what you will have to do. From where it enters...

    My New Fermentation Cabinets

Just an FYI. I tied into the wiring just below the computer panel which worked great. I then tried to mount the Love controler in centered above the stock panel. Do NOT do this. Mount the Love left justifed with the left side of the stock pannel, or the contoler will hit the left side of the...

    My New Fermentation Cabinets

Well my Lowes had the frigidare 13.7 on close out so I got it about 100 bucks cheaper than it usually is. I was wondering about your progress. I have the plastic sheeting installed with the lower section of the door so the light goes on and off. I'm thinking about taking it off and digging...

    Irish Stout Guinness Draught Clone

Yeast usually doesn't crap out unless some consumables are lacking. Oxygenating your wort before fermentation should help in the future. Although that is a high gravity.

    My New Fermentation Cabinets

Thats look like the wiring diagram for the 13.7 fridgidare I was looking at, at Lowes. I was going to hook it up that way, and thats what prompted my question. I think using "A" to power the unit. Then cutting "C" and wiring it to go to the compressor from the new controler is the way to go...

    RIMS Build

My imediate thought is that these two elements can't be dry fired. That is there can be absolutely no air around the elements when they are turned on. If you arrange the system where the element is at the bottom of your chamber, then all the air is easily evacuated from your heating chamber...
