    How much is boiled off?

    It varies depending on relative humidity, elevation, boil vigor, and surface area of the boiling wort. With that said, a good average is 1.25 gallons more than the intended volume. So 11.25 should be pretty close. You wont know for sure until you actually do a brew day, or practice with boiling...

    Chill. Even preheating your carboy could lead to disastrous results. Be safe man...we don't need any more carboy related fatalities among our members. ;)

    yeah, if you plan on doing full boils for 5 gallon batches, you might be cutting it close. I would say 8 gallon as a minimum.

    Other that whole leaf, my pellet hops never get filtered....just check everything in there...including (oh no he's not going to say it) yep....cold break too.now if you want to harvest your yeast, you might not want to go this route, but if you just chuck it out after primary is over, then yeah...

    yeah, just do another batch (2X original recipe) and mix with the original batch at bottling....1/2 of the concentrate for 1 and 1/2 for the other 1.
