    Renewed airlock activity

I haven't checked it since it went into the primary. Right after brewing it was 1.061. I plan on bottling next week, so I'll check it for three days before hand.

    Renewed airlock activity

I brewed an extract and specialty grains porter about 3 weeks ago. I used Danstar Windsor dry yeast. It fermented quite nicely for about 3 days then settled down and bubbled every now and again. But, starting yesterday, the airlock has been bubbling once every 5 seconds or so. I opened the lid...

Do I need a bigger brewpot to go AG?

I use an 8 gallon pot. I had 6.41 gallons of wort this past weekend, and it was a tight fit.....had to keep a very close eye on the pot for most of the boil. I am on the look out for a 10 gallon pot.

    Guinness Foreign Extra Stout!! Wow!

I picked up a bottle of this when I got a mixed sixer last week, I was really looking forward to it.....but, my wife used it yesterday to make the spent grain bread recipe in the cooking forum. Looks like I'll need to pick up some more.

    First Ag done!

Thanks guys....I have done lots reading on AG(still lots to go too) ....so I hope that it wasn't just a fluke. boomr....my post boil OG was 1.050. Beersmith estimated it to be 1.052....so I'm pretty darn close. I have an AG Cream Ale slated for next weekend.

    First Ag done!

So my first AG brew is done. I did the Irish Red Ale from NB. I added an extra lb of the 2 row malt to compensate for the possibility of a low efficiency. I used Beersmith to calc the strike and sparge temps/amounts. I mashed for 60 min at 154°...loosing 3° in the hour long mash. I then sparged...

    Transfer to primary

How are you all transfering from your brew kettle to your primary? I do full 6.5 gallon boils, and usually just pour the cooled wort into my buckets. I have two full full plastic primary's, but need to brew two more beers. I have two 6 gal. carboys that I will be using for primary's. I've...

    Going AG

Oh yeah..I forgot to ask my question: I am looking to start out with a single stage mash....is there any style of beer that suits this better, or is it not really a big deal?

    Going AG

My last two extract beers were a bit on the pricey side. I did a Smoked Porter from a local shop that was $47, and I just brewed up the deception Cream Stout yesterday. That was up near $50 too. I have decided to go AG to save a few bucks, and for the satisfaction of doing the whole brew...

    Sweet Stout Deception Cream Stout

just finished brewing this up. I was smoking a pork butt and a chuck roast while this was being brewed. My garage smelled awesome! I tasted this before I added the hops....this is going to be a fantastic beer. I'll have trouble waiting for this one! Thanks.
